The lack of knowledge of football on a football board is amazing to me. Seems some people want to look at a players performance in a vacuum. This is a team sport and how player A performs, will effect how player b performs. Roy has his faults, he is not a perfect player, but still one of the best SS in the league and anyone that don't see that, shouldn't be allowed to watch football anymore.
I think having an experienced FS this year will improve roy's game tremendously. It is very hard to play on your instincts when you are worried about the guy next to you. And if you don't think having subpar FS play has had an impact on how Roy plays, again, you shouldn't be allowed to watch football anymore.
The part of Roy's game that has me the most conerned is not his coverage but his running. As noted, he did take some bad angles at times. I personally think that was due to his size and not being as fast has he once was. You can't take the same angle at 245 as you do when you are 220.
Now that he is back down in weight, has someone to take some of the pressure off in Hamlin, as a group, the communication is much improved, and a more attacking defense, which will allow him to be proactive and not as reactive, I think we will see the Roy that will take the step forward from one of the best, to the best.
