a lot of coulds in there

an Greg Hardy did nothing ?

The NFL’s investigation concluded that Hardy violated the Personal Conduct Policy by using physical force against Nicole Holder in at least four instances. First, he used physical force against her which caused her to land in a bathtub. Second, he used physical force against her which caused her to land on a futon that was covered with at least four semi-automatic rifles. Third, he used physical force against her by placing his hands around Ms. Holder’s neck and applying enough pressure to leave visible marks. And fourth, he used physical force to shove Ms. Holder against a wall in his apartment’s entry hallway

We don't know exactly what Greg Hardy did we don't have video evidence and charges were dismissed against him. We know exactly what Ray Rice did because we have video evidence. There's no disputing what Rice did. What he did gave the NFL a bigger jolt than the punch he landed to his girlfriends face. The Rice incident made the league and Goodell look bad and could have cost him and others their job. What Rice did had such an effect on society it resulted in a TV campaign against domestic violence. Ray Rice is bad news and I wouldn't be surprised if teams have been told to stay away from him. The league had to reinstate him but teams aren't required to sign him.

It wouldn't be much of a PR nightmare, It would make headlines for about a week and then go away especially when the reg season starts. Michael Sam was supposed to be this big PR nightmare and that story fizzled out pretty fast.

The Michael Sam situation and the Ray Rice situation are totally different. There wasn't going to be a PR nightmare with the Sam signing because the majority of our society has become acceptant of ones sexual preference. Most admired Sam for coming out. Society will never become acceptant of what Ray Rice was caught doing on that video to his girlfriend in that elevator. Many women are affected by domestic violence and some people only know of Ray Rice for punching his girlfriend. The guy has been reduced to a joke.

When something gets so big that it results in the commissioner of the NFL having to do an about face and a TV campaign against domestic violence you don't want to be adding the player to your team who created that firestorm that rocked the NFL world. Ray Rice is a disgraced player which is something you don't want representing your franchise. His reputation has been ruined and I'll be surprised if he ever plays in the NFL again.

Ravens running back Ray Rice's charges have been dismissed

the girl married him

On Sept. 9, 2014, Jones spoke to the Dallas Star-Telegram about Rice's indefinite suspension.

"There's no question in my mind, the emphasis we have on spousal abuse in the NFL and the lack of tolerance for it," Jones told the Star-Telegram. "It's intolerable and will be adjudicated accordingly."

If Jones said that with a straight face, then how could he possibly turn around six to seven months later and sign defensive end Greg Hardy, who was charged with throwing his ex-girlfriend on a couch with a bunch of semi-automatic weapons and strangling her? Those charges were eventually dropped when Hardy reached a financial settlement with his ex, so she wouldn't cooperate with the prosecution. Somehow, he has been cleared to play by the league and was seen fit to be a Cowboy. He will still miss the first four games this season for violating the personal conduct clause in all NFL contracts.

Hardy invariably leads us back to Rice.

I am not defending nor making light of the despicable act of violence Rice perpetrated on Palmer in the elevator at a casino in Atlantic City, N.J. But it seems that when it comes to getting a job back in the NFL, part of Rice's reality is that what he did was memorialized on video and shown for the world to see

It's a tough spot for Rice, to sit back and have to count on Jones' hypocrisy as his ticket back to playing the game he loves. But that is the reality Rice faces right now. The fact that Jones blundered in letting his best running back, DeMarco Murray, leave and end up with the NFC East divisional rival Philadelphia Eagles also opens up an opportunity for Rice.

It's pretty clear from watching and listening to recent Rice interviews that he is a changed man. It seems he has matured and grown in that he accepts the flaws in his character that led to his one-time reprehensible violence against the woman he loves. In an ironic way, the Cowboys and Rice seem like a perfect fit. An organization run by someone who wants to win at almost any cost, teaming up with someone who is ashamed of his actions and is looking for redemption and another chance to take it to the house.

Bolded is conjecture there is zero evidence that an agreement was made.

The weapons part was thrown in to add shock, lets not get into Hardy called 911 to get his girlfriend removed who was being violent.

Ray was fortunate that he got nailed in state that requires the victim to press charges.

Hardy was not that luck but the star witness made conflicting statements to the police then the DA, which is fact.

It makes no difference that the girl married him it doesn't excuse what he did and make it okay because she married him. A lot of women stay with their boyfriends or husbands after a domestic violence incident and some of these women have endured repeated violence because of that decision and some have ended up dead. Charges were dismissed against Rice because he had completed the terms of his pretrial intervention. Under terms of the program Rice paid $125 in fines and received anger management counseling.

Charges were dismissed against Hardy because his accuser didn't make herself available to help with the case which put into question her allegations. While Rice's suspension was increased Hardy's suspension was reduced. There's some doubt as to what exactly happened with Hardy's situation which is why his suspension was reduced and he has a team. There's no doubt what happened with Rice which is why his suspension was increased and he currently doesn't have a team.

Rumors are simply rumors until such time as they're proven right or wrong. It's been said by those who should be in the know that the staff prefers to sign a younger player with potential and preferably not too costly. Hard to say with any conviction whatsoever what may or may not happen until a contract has been signed. We'll see whenever that happens and not very likely before.

Ray Rice may or may not make us a better team but even the Dallas Cowboys cannot handle that backlash. Signing Greg Hardy can be seen as giving a player a "second chance". Signing Ray Rice would make us look like the "pro domestic violence team". We will see immense media backlash as well as boycotts.

This isn't a comment on the innocense of either player but a comment on the PR move related to a Ray Rice signing.

It doesn't matter if you are innocent or guilty if you are a celebrity. There will still be a core of people that feel you are guilty of something. You will find a core of people out there who believe Dez is guilty of domestic abuse due to the rumors a few months ago and the alleged confrontation involving his mother and a baseball hat.

it matters to me and it should matter to anyone who's sense of right and wrong is more than names they recognize.

I would rather have him than Ray Rice.

Rice is done. Forget about the bad PR. He can't play anymore.

PR is not their primary concern. Their primary concern should be if the guy (Rice) can still play. His gradual decline the last several years says no.

As for Pierre, there is no hurry.
