I don't think this has a chance of happening but some of you saying they won't trade that high for a QB because they want to win now aren't making much sense. If you look at all the teams in the NFL, Dallas is already good enough to win now. Heck, they proved that last year by physically dominating the Panthers, Seahawks and Broncos - with two of those games being on the road. I know they went 1-2 in those games but I thought they were the better team on the field in all three of those games and those three teams played in their conference championship games. What I'm saying is, if you look at the NFL, Dallas is as good as anyone right now.
Now look at the future. Bledsoe has two more years left at the most. Say JJ and Parcells believe Young or Leinart to be a spectacular talent who just needs a little coaching to be great. With the Cowboys, they could sit for two years and learn the position. Then when Bledsoe retires, Dallas will still not only have one of the youngest, most intimidating defenses in the NFL, they will also have a young QB ready to take over and help the team win instead of starting over from scratch.
Like I said, I seriously doubt this happens but I don't think you draft for one year. What happens if Dallas doesn't win the Super Bowl this year? We fold up shop and go home? The Cowboys have done enough to make themselves Super Bowl contenders this year by signing good players at all the positions they needed help in this offseason. Now if they feel there is a QB for the future that they just can't pass up worth taking in this draft, I'm all for it. At least then I won't have to listen to some of you tell me how good that stiff over in Germany looks playing against players who couldn't have started for USC or Texas last year.
