Rumor: Cowboys made an offer to Arizona?

I was discussing this with a Cardinal-fan friend of mine today, and an interesting question came up... Even though there's lots of talk about "needing" complementary players (for example, since we're discussing receivers: the big, tall, bruiser WR and the nimble, speedy type to stretch the field), wouldn't it make just as much sense to try to overload on a certain type of player? AZ has two players in Fitz and Boldin who are not world-class sprinters but have great hands and can both catch the ball in traffic and run with it when they get it. This might actually be tougher to cover than the prototypical "complementary" scheme, because you would need at least two big, strong, physical CBs to cover them both. It is less likely that a team, our theory goes, would have two superstrong CBs, so there should always be a mismatch. If, however, you have that one "stretch-the-field" guy and the one big bully, a defense can work to cover the big guy with a big corner, and the field-stretcher with their fastest (but not necessarily biggest) CB. To a certain extent, we already have that with Witten, but, since he is still a TE, it is a little less of a headache for the defense.
All this to say that, whatever the cost, it would be sweeet to see TO and Boldin on the field at the same time, and, while it might cost a lot, it'd be worth an awful lot too.

Mike Jurecky of Xtra sports 910 in AZ, said this morning, that 17 teams contacted the Cardinals about a trade for Boldin...and all teams offered at least a first round pick for him.

So over half the league offered a first round pick and who knows what else and they all were turned down!!!

Jurecky also stated that the Cardinals will NOT trade him this year.

As far as insider info and facts about the AZ Cardinals there is no other...

If someone pointed this info out earlier in the thread, my apologies as I didn't read all seven pages prior to posting....

k - i wondered if we did have a 2nd one, so i kept most of my sarcasm at bay. : )

i still wanna jedi mind trick 'em.

this is not the WR you need. you can let him go on about his way. money is of no use to you, keep your honor...

wonder if we should even try it. :)
We should throw some mid-level deal, something that might not get it done, but enough to make Philly ante up some more. That way, if we win the bidding, we got him for something semi reasonable, but if not, we know the Eagles got hosed.

what number will Boldin wear if he joins the Cowboys?

T.O. #81

Boldin #88??? will Irvin allow him to wear his jersey number??

It is too early but it had to be mentioned!!! :)

I dont think anyone has to ask Irvin... lol

Also knowing Irvin he would probably give his blessing and ask that Boldin do that number proud.

If T.O goes down, we miss the playoffs, that simple.

Boldin is better than T.O in my eyes, and the main reason is his age. If T.O was 30 than its obvious you pick T.O, but when you're lead receiver, you're best receiver is 34 years old, they don't have that many years left and chances of injury obviously increase.

When you get a great player to play on a great team in a winning culture they get better. Do people actually believe this is the best Boldin can be? You put that star on you're helmet and bubble player turns into a legit player(Marc Colombo).

Agreed. We probably do miss playoffs.

Disagree on TO and health and his age. The injuries of the last 5 years would have happened to a 22 year old.
  • Roy broke his ankle
  • Last year he was pull down awkwardly on leg
  • Finger broken
Age had nothing to do with them.

TO is the exception to this rule.
