Rumor: Cowboys made an offer to Arizona?

The best trade would be this

Our 2nd and both 3rds in 09 for Boldin
(Thats 3 high picks for the Cardinals. They can get 3 young players to go with the young team they already have. I think this trade is fair for both sides.)

If we make it to the Superbowl it goes to

1st, and a 3rd

If we win the Superbowl

1st, and both 3rd's

What do you think

Ah, the old conditional move, huh? I'll take it! Provided he's actually on the field during the SB victory that is. If he gets injured and we still win the SB, they can have him back. :laugh2:

The Cowboys are not going to trade for Anquan Boldin.
Repeat. The Cowboys are not going to trade for Anquan Boldin.

Yet we were trying to do exactly that before and after the draft. If then, why not now? What's changed?

He is pretty much the Marion Barber of WRs in the sense of his reckless abandon and punishing style of play. He is known for giving his all on and off the field, and is not shy of the dangerous catch. Unlike a Roy Williams, his injuries can't be labelled a result of being soft, whether the accusations against RW are true or not. He is deadly after the catch and is a premier WR in the game. His stats are pretty much up there with the best and he produces whenever he steps on the field.

A lot of people argue he is better than LF, and Larry Fitzgerald is a beast. To them, Boldin is the actual number 1 receiver on Arizona.

Bill Parcells, I believe, once said he was the best WR in the game.

He reminds me of Michael Irvin. Same kind of physical style of play and attention to detail in his game. Hard working WR who does not have the all world physical tools but has those same kinds of things to his game that made Irvin a HOF player.

a) Michael Irvin had all world physical tools.

b) So does Boldin.

Why wait a year to take a 50/50 shot on Crabtree? Use the picks on a sure thing this year

I agree get it done Jerry, add a "wow' player.

Why is that? Because YAC are the most important stat for a WR?

The point is Boldin averages just as many yards on the catch as does Larry Fitzgerald, but he is earning it after the catch. Boldin is just as good a receiver. You make it sound as if LF and Boldin are far apart. Nobody doubts LF is a great receiver, but Boldin is just as good. It isn't a clear number 1 in respect to LF as you claim.

Why would you adjust for the 4 games AB missed? Injuries are part of the game, they happen to practically everyone.

There was no adjustment. It simply tells the tale that AB was on par to have another 80 plus reception season if he didn't get injured.

LF has had 2 1000 yards twice also in 4 seasons (Boldin 2 in 5 seasons) and is DAMN SURE to make it again this year barring injuries. Hell, he missed it by 54 yards in 06'

And LF, in two seasons only caught 58 and 69 balls. The only time Boldin even sniffed less then 70 was in 2004, when he had 56 receptions at 10 games, 9 games started. LF had that many receptions in a full 16 games.

LF has more TDs in 4 season than Boldin has in 5 seasons.

LF averages more first downs than Boldin does even though Boldin avgs. 2 more YAC.

No, he doesn't, at least not int he last 3 years. LF had 224 first downs, and Boldin had 258. That is a whopping difference of 34 first downs. The difference in TDs is by LF in the last 3 years with 5 more TDs.

Boldin sustains way more drives than LF, with the nod given to LF.

LF is AZs go-to guy.

No, he is not. The numbers are around the same. And Boldin is asking for the same amount of money LF is asking, not more, and it is actually quite reasonable.

My buddy just sent me a text saying that 1310 said the boys offered Arizona Spears and 1st round pick for Boldin.

Is it true?

Did anybody else hear this?

I am all for the trade but why would the Cards want Spears?

AZ plays a hybrid 3-4/4-3 scheme and is stocked at DL:

Bertrand Berry - Pro Bowler (3-4 OLB or 4-3 DE)
Darnell Dockett - Pro Bowler (3-4 DE or 4-3 DT)
Gabe Watson - 3-4 NT or 4-3 DT
Alan Branch - 3-4 DE or 4-3 DT (can also play the 3 technique DT)
Travis LaBoy - 3-4 OLB or 4-3 DE

Cards also have rotational guys that they are very high on:

DE Chike Okeafor, DT Joe Tafoya, DE Bo Schobel, DE Bryan Robinson, DEs Kenny Iwebema & Antonio Smith. And of course, first day pick DE-DT Calais Campbell.

It makes more sense for the Cards to covet a LB who can play in either a 3-4 or a 4-3 over yet another DL like Spears.

Give AZ Carp and next years 2nd. Throw in a 3rd in 2010 if Boldin makes the pro bowl. Or give them Ball, other than DRC, their corners don't have much upside.
