Super bowl contention generally comes in windows. If we sign Dak to big money, we have a 4-5 year window. Now, in this window, we need to get a D. W/o building the D, nothing we do is going to matter. Giving Dak a huge deal for 4 years severely lessens what we can do.Thank you but the question still stands. How does this help the team? Yes, they can spread things out over 5 years, perhaps, but they would be forced to take on a new contract/cost for a new QB that fifth year. Basically pay dead cap against a player who is gone at a premium salary cost and take on more cost against the cap to bring in another QB. How does this help the cap?
You're thinking past this deal. That's not relevant at this point.
