If this is true... it won't be us. Not after Jerry keeps talking about not wanting to part with next year's picks, IMO.

I dont have a link it was on Espn channel 36, reese gm, trey somebody, michael smith, were reporters on espn when it flashed across the screen about chargers getting offer for # 1 in 2008.

i got the tail end of it, on espn, that some team has offered a # 1 pick for michael turner of the chargers, espn said that the chargers are condidering it, but they didnt say which team had offered # 1 in 2008. I just dont want it to be us, you never, NEVER GIVE AWAY YOUR NUMBER 1 PICK, UNLESS IT IS TO MOVE UP IN THE DRAFT AND GET A HIGHER # 1 PICK.
I just got worried that Wade Phillips had talked Jerry Jones into getting Turner. I would rather that we trade up and get Adrian Peterson (not sure about Lynch whom has back issues), then let Julius Jones run the first 6 games or so of the season, let him run wild, then trade him.

Thanks for clarifying what channel ESPN is on in your area.

The real question is.... for all those who are pressed for AP or M. Turner.

AP < M. Turner ???

Talking about it now. Clayton mentioned Buffalo and Green Bay as the possible interested teams. Which means it's probably the 'Boys.

Not that I am in favor of trading for M. Turner, but giving up a first rounder in 2008, wouldn't be as bad as you think if you plan to go far in the post season next year. Either way, you would have to trade to get a higher pick for a RB like McFadden which would seem impossible w/how the Boys are stacking up.

So the questions to answer in the end are....

-trade now for M. Turner and give up a high first rounder next year.
-trade up to try and get AP this year
-re-sign JJones and strenghten your other areas through the draft this year
-let the year play out w/JJones and see if the line makes him perform at a higher level and make a decision at the middle or end of the year (like it looks like they will do with Romo).
-let the year play out w/JJones and then trade him before the trade deadline if you have a capable backup or it looks like MBarber can shoulder the load to get to the playoffs/superbowl.

The other factor is you do have players like Newman, Romo, TO, and Flozell who are looking to be re-signed at the end of next year so will there be enough money for JJones? Of course, in this draft, the Boys maybe able to find Flozell and TO's replacement, but you have to think about the other open areas that will be coming up next year.

Not to mention, if you do trade for M. Turner, you have to give him a new deal as well.

We will see what happens...

You know...I just thought of something that could make a LOT of sense.

If Wade convinced Jerry Jones that Turner is worth a trade for, I could easily see JJones trading 2008's first round pick and then take one of the deals on the table to trade out of this years first rounder for a second and a 2008 first round pick. Makes perfect sense... if M. Turner is > AP or >Julius Jones

Again, you still run into the issue of re-signing M. Turner if you trade for him.

The other question to bring up is how much did SD's OLine help M. Turner look better then he might be?

He's been replaced, sadly. Julius, Greg Ellis are the new default trade bait
