Not that I am in favor of trading for M. Turner, but giving up a first rounder in 2008, wouldn't be as bad as you think if you plan to go far in the post season next year. Either way, you would have to trade to get a higher pick for a RB like McFadden which would seem impossible w/how the Boys are stacking up.

So the questions to answer in the end are....

-trade now for M. Turner and give up a high first rounder next year.
-trade up to try and get AP this year
-re-sign JJones and strenghten your other areas through the draft this year
-let the year play out w/JJones and see if the line makes him perform at a higher level and make a decision at the middle or end of the year (like it looks like they will do with Romo).
-let the year play out w/JJones and then trade him before the trade deadline if you have a capable backup or it looks like MBarber can shoulder the load to get to the playoffs/superbowl.

The other factor is you do have players like Newman, Romo, TO, and Flozell who are looking to be re-signed at the end of next year so will there be enough money for JJones? Of course, in this draft, the Boys maybe able to find Flozell and TO's replacement, but you have to think about the other open areas that will be coming up next year.

Not to mention, if you do trade for M. Turner, you have to give him a new deal as well.

We will see what happens...

If it comes down to a first in 2008 for Turner

Or trading up to get Adrian (The Man of Glass) Peterson

I make the deal for Turner and trade Jones.

You know...I just thought of something that could make a LOT of sense.

If Wade convinced Jerry Jones that Turner is worth a trade for, I could easily see JJones trading 2008's first round pick and then take one of the deals on the table to trade out of this years first rounder for a second and a 2008 first round pick. Makes perfect sense... if M. Turner is > AP or >Julius Jones

Again, you still run into the issue of re-signing M. Turner if you trade for him.

The other question to bring up is how much did SD's OLine help M. Turner look better then he might be?

That 's pretty good reasoning and just may be the case. I'm not necessarily sold on Turner but his running style reminds me alittle of LJ, even though he seems alitttle more compact. I think he would be an effective power runner.

He's been replaced, sadly. Julius, Greg Ellis are the new default trade bait

Actually, at some point this offseason, I think the entire team has been involved in some sort of trade scenario by posters here.

I hope this doesn't happen

not that I don't like Turner, I do, wanted us to draft him 4th/5th round, but he's a former 5th round choice, so it shouldn't be that hard to find another Turner, in fact, we should just spend a 3rd on Brandon Jackson, or 4th if possible, that would give us the same type of runner

Are you psychic?

And now from psychicRus

Recently, the Psychic Hotline and Psychic Friends Network have launched hotlines for frogs. Here is the story of one frog and his discussing with his psychic.
A frog telephones the Psychic Hotline and is told, "You are going to meet a beautiful young girl who will want to know everything about you."
The frog says, "This is great! Will I meet her at a party, or what?"
"No," says the psychic. "Next semester in her biology class."

Doesn't make since, why would we trade JJ, who Jerry is trying avoid paying a contract extention, for aother player that would require an extention plus a pick?

This assumes that Turner has 4th or 5th round talent. He was twice second in the nation in rushing his two years starting at N. Ill. Do you think that there are any more of those types of RBs to be had in the 4th or 5th rounds? Good luck with that.

:jerk: Garrett Wolfe rushed for more yards in college than any back in this draft, I guess he's going to turn out to be the best back

Beat me to it. Look at the competition Turner played against in college and also look who he backs up in SD. I mean, Ki-Jana Carter could have had some nice numbers behind LT. I'm not slamming Turner's ability, but I am really weary about giving up that much for him. Maybe I'm wrong.

If this is true... it won't be us. Not after Jerry keeps talking about not wanting to part with next year's picks, IMO.

would you trade a #25 pick or so in the 1st round for turner?

if turner were in this years draft, would you draft him at 22 *IF* he were even there?

i'd draft him at our 22 spot, sure. so why not?

exactly, Turner is doing his damage against Ds wore out from trying to stop LT, and their TE, damn, keep forgetting his name, opens up alot of room for the running game

I guess you see something the other 31 teams didnt see then...and they all passed on him 3 or 4 times

I really doubt anyone is giving away a 1st rd pick for Turner w/o getting something in return (2nd or 3rd pick, or maybe they use Turner to trade up in the 1st rd and swap first rounders)
