Rumor: Jim Irsay tweets about Possible Trade

Given the fact the Colts were tied for last in ints and were not able to address their secondary in the draft or in FA it would not come as a shock if the Colts had interest in Jenkins.

Yes he has a should injury and that will heal, there is enough tape on Jenkins as well as head to head between Cowboys and Colts for them to know what Jenkins is capable of.

Add to that Jenkins is still a young player not some 30 plus year old coming off a surgery.

Frankly if I was going to pull a trade I would want to do it with a team who will likely finish below 500 making any selection a better one.

Reports: Colts going after CB, not Jones-Drew

Jim Irsay tweeted on Thursday night that the Colts were working on a big deal for a "SERIOUS Vet/starter." Irsay pumped up the possible acquisition and said that the Colts would be giving up a high pick and cash. With that information, there were only two logical options as trade targets: Steelers wide receiver Mike Wallace and Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew.
Applying logic to a Jim Irsay tweet can be hazardous.
Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com reports that the Colts were not talking trade about Wallace or Jones-Drew. (Which should make MJD happy.) The report also ruled out Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins and Ravens cornerback Cary Williams.

Sorry, looking like it's NOT Jenkins.
This looks more legit than the rest, imo.
Not sure about Vonte Davis, but eliminating the others.

Tell me again why is an owner saying these things and not the head coach or gm?
No joke.

I like the one I saw yesterday that said "only in Dallas" would the GM not be fired after less than great results. I guess the person saying that is unaware of several other situations in the NFL. Tex and Tom would have never made it in his 5 year window demand.

People are so delusional. They put conditions on this team, and have no realization that other teams operate in similar ways.

name one other NFL team whose GM has held the job for 20 years despite going .500 and having one playoff win in the last 16 years

no explanations needed

i will wait for an actual name (should be easy enough since there are "several other similar situations")

these are not "less than great results" these are horrible results

we would laugh at any other franchise that kept such a GM around yet we continue to defend this sorry excuse for a GM under the guise of "tie breaker" and "does not make decisions" and "consults with NFL people" and on and on

Aw, nothing like a cherry picked debate point.

I can't name one in exactly 16 years. But how about I name some teams who haven't had anywhere near the success he did have? No, that'd be honest since only 6 other teams can claim as many Super Bowl appearances in the time frame he has been this Wizard of Oz GM.

Okay, how about playoff wins in the same time frame? Naw, also too honest because only 5 teams can claim as many or more.

How about playoff appearances? I think this one is actually good because the one and done aspect of the NFL does mean that sometimes the better team loses. Witness 15-1 Green Bay last year and many other examples. Naw, still too honest because only 7 teams measure up there.

How about in the 16 years of whining? Playoff appearances in the 16 years of whining? No, no good. Still only 14 teams have had as many playoff seasons.

We really need to make your misery pop. Yeah, guess we gotta go with your cherry picked parameters. Kudos to you for such a well defined argument. [/extreme sarcasm]

That same GM also won 3 Superbowls - just saying...

1) did you read and understand the thread with jimmy's tweet? jerry was GM in name only, jimmy had control. jerry hired jimmy and got out of the way other than rubber-stamping decisions made by jimmy.

2) even if i give you that, it was 16 years back. if you are the owner of an NFL team and your GM won 3 SBs but has one playoff win in the last 16, will you keep him around? please answer yes or no. be honest and think before you answer.

Three-way trade scenario:

Dallas gets Colts 1st & 3rd rounder and Jaguars 1st Rounder.

Colts get Mike Jenkins and Marice Jones-Drew.

Jaguars get Felix Jones and Dexter Coakley.

Now that would be a sweet deal!

:p: :p: :p:

Dexter Coakley was in-the-house last night at the Silver and Blue Open practice. My first thought was, they can trade him for a Center.
:laugh2:

Irsay is such a weirdo. He tweets like he's drunk.
As opposed to actually being drunk, out in public, cavorting with girls young enough to be your grandaughter, insulting your fan base and laughing that they were stupid enough to fund your stadium, belittle the coach who rebuilt the roster you're still living on....

OK, lets not cherry pick, how about we lower the bar to 14 years? or 12 years? or 10 years? or even 8 years?

name a GM that has won one playoff game and is still the GM of the same team

nothing yet?

Lets stay on the thread about a possible trade ....Thanks

Or we could acknowledge that one thing that makes the NFL great is that it isn't a playoff majority with best of seven series. No, still too honest.

Mike Brown comes to mind immediately.

Buffalo hasn't been to the playoffs in 12 years. Their fans whine less than you. Raiders hasn't been to the playoffs in 9 years. Their fans whine less than you. St. Louis hasn't been to the playoffs in 7 years. Their fans whine less than you. Detroit finally made the playoffs after an 11 year drought and promptly lost their first game and yet their fans, who only have 15 playoff seasons in their 82 year History, are whining less than you.

The colts first round pick should be top ten this year, I think. That would be sweet.

Uh oh... somebody got Hoswned! :laugh2:

It would be funny if it turns out that his Twitter account was hacked and there are no trade talks going on.

"UPDATE: Multiple reports have stated that Jones-Drew is not the Colts' target, with one saying that Irsay and Co. are chasing a cornerback.

UPDATE II: In the wee hours of the night, Irsay wrote on Twitter, "It's standing still...at 1am...shut it down...as Paul Simon says..'There's only so much you can do..go on and get some rest...' "

Did anyone else picture a bride left at the altar as you read this?

Honestly, Jerry would have been fired for Campo alone long ago if it was me.

But, guess what, we CAN'T fire Jerry. No one can. So it is pointless to whine about it. Jerry is not the best, but he's not the worst.
