Peppers would help them play their pressure game and the combination of him and Cole could be quite lethal. I think from Philly's point of view it is a great trade. It would almost immediately force us to get better at Tackle.

McNabb is good but not great at this stage of his career. Who is he behind now in the NFC? Romo, Eli, Rodgers, Favre (pending retirement decision), Brees and Matt Ryan (his future is better than McNabb's).
He is not behind Ryan. The kid stunk last season.

Carolina could use the franchise tag again and try to trade Peppers, but Peppers would almost certainly first have to agree to a long-term deal with that team.

I cant imagine he would be that easy to work with after making it clear he wanted to finish his career as a OLB in a 3-4.

Not sure I believe this.

This isnt the NBA where you do a sign and trade.

Peppers is overrated trash anyways. Kolb is just awful.

I dunno about a 2nd rounder on top of Pepper though. That would give them 3 2nd rounders...wow.

Peppers and a high pick for an aging QB? Doesn't make sense. Besides, I thought Matt Moore was their QB of the present and future.

Peppers is a UFA and can't be traded unless they sign him first, which they haven't done and Peppers would NEVER agree to anyway.

Unless he really struggles in pre-season, Moore IS their QB for 2010 with Delhomme the backup, They don't need McNabb.

This "credible" source is not very credible IMO.

from pretty credible source in philly....McNabb will be traded next week for Julius Peppers and 2nd round pick.
BS, not gonna happen. First off Carolina has yet to franchise Peppers so until then they don't have the rights to trade him. I don't see the Eagles trading their top QB within the conference, so I don't see that happening and if anything it should be McNabb & a 2nd for Peppers not the other way around, Peppers is worth much more than McNabb.

I'll take Ryan's future over McNabb's just on the basis than Ryan only finished his second year and McNabb just finished his 11th. You pay for future not past play in this league.

I don't want Peppers on the Eagles. They're good enough. Someone needs to answer the question about who owns Peppers' rights. My guess is the Panthers can franchise him then trade him. Does that sound right?

That would be it. Peppers is not under contract for this season. And even if they franchise him, the Panthers could not trade him until he is under contract (which he could work out with the Eagles).

The Eagles are notoriously cheap and aren't likely to pay Peppers what he is looking for. I see him going to a team like the Rams who desperately need star players and would be willing to pay for them.

It is odd how quickly McNabb is deteriorating. He's only 33 and he plays like he's 39. I don't see him being a QB playing in his late 30s so I agree with you on Ryan.

I call bs, I thought Matt Moore was their guy. And Philly doesn't want to lose McNabb, Andy Reid isn't stupid.

1. If i ran the panthers i'd take Farve or Mcnabb over the unproven Moore, i'm telling you if you give them at least a B quarterback the would be the best team in the NFL, they have loads of talent everywhere. Farve is an A, Mcnabb is a B, Moore would be a C or C+ right now.

2. If i were Philly, if i can get a 1st or a guy like peppers plus a early draft pick i'd jump all over that. You can basically start the Kolb(or Vick) era and since you are loaded on offense you can focus on defense in the draft and improve dramatically.

A) Trades can't occur until the start of the new league year (March 5, if I'm not mistaken).

B) Peppers will be an Unrestricted Free Agent when the new leage year starts and therefore can not be traded.

THIS IS TOTAL BS!!!!

First of all, Peppers is an UFA and he cannot be traded unless he is under contract. Even if Carolina uses the franchise tag, unless Peppers actually signs it, he still cannot be traded. Teams cannot trade the rights to a player, only contracts can be traded.

Secondly, Carolina is not going to use the franchise tag because that is over $20 mill guaranteed. Also, Peppers would not sign the franchise because he can get more than $20 mill in signing bonus in a long term contract if he is on the open market.

So to recap, unless Peppers signs a contract with Carolina he cannot be traded. Even if he is tagged, unless he actually signs the one year deal he still cannot be traded.

This "credible source from Philly" appears to not understand how the CBA works, that is why I am calling BS on this rumor.

what does that have to do with anything? You called a great defensive lineman overrated and trash, yet you root for perhaps one of the most overrated basketball players.
