Peppers would have to sign the franchise tag which he would NOT do until the deal was worked out with the Birds. That means a long term deal with lots of money. Not very likely.

It's only guaranteed on week #1. That's why some teams will sign players in week #2 so they don't have pay as much.

Carolina could put the franchise tag him while they work out a trade.

Wrong again.

You are thinking about seasoned vets that have their entire salary guaranteed if they are on the roster in week 1. That is why alot of teams wait until week 2 to add seasoned vets to their roster.

This has absolutely nothing to do with franchise tags. I dont know how I can be any clearer, franchise tags are 100% guaranteed once they are signed. There are no loopholes or exceptions, period.

Joey Galloway was traded to the Cowboys while franchised, so it is possible. Peppers just would have to agree to a contract with the eagles to finish the trade.

I believe the CBA has been extended/modified since then.

If you dont believe me, go look up the CBA for yourself. It clearly states that a player without a contract cannot be traded. Besides, it really doesnt matter what the rules were years ago, all that matters is what the rules are for 2010 and the CBA states a player without a contract cannot be traded.

Peppers would help them play their pressure game and the combination of him and Cole could be quite lethal. I think from Philly's point of view it is a great trade. It would almost immediately force us to get better at Tackle.

McNabb is good but not great at this stage of his career. Who is he behind now in the NFC? Romo, Eli, Rodgers, Favre (pending retirement decision), Brees and Matt Ryan (his future is better than McNabb's).

Sorry, these 2 words do not mix.....in any way, shape or form.

I am in Charlotte and I havent heard any rumors about Peppers being traded. The main discussion I hear on radio is how he is pissed management will not meet him in discussions.

First of all if they trading for McNabb they will risk losing there QB of the future, Matt Moore. That kid can play. He reminds me of Romo when he came in midseason. IMO the NFC was lucky that Carolina didn't make the playoffs last year, because at the end of the year they were playing better then any team out there including us.

2nd of all my guess is Peppers is heading north to New England. They have a slew of draft picks, and he wants to try out the 34 defense. Plus you have the Adalious Thomas situation. That would be my bet.

I would rather go against Kolb or Vick twice a year though!!

what does that have to do with anything? You called a great defensive lineman overrated and trash, yet you root for perhaps one of the most overrated basketball players.

If LeBron is overrated, I want 12 overrated players just like him on my team.

From an NFC East perspective, I don't mind that at all...Philly would be worse without McNabb, and Peppers has been handled by our guys when we play Carolina.

However, I would hate to see Carolina with McNabb at QB. McNabb has NEVER played on a team with a great running game like Carolina possesses, and Steve Smith has never had a QB like McNabb throwing him the ball...I wouldn't like that scenerio one bit.

thank goodness somebody near the end reminded me about the lebron post. saying he is overrated is absolutely insane. i am a die hard lakers fan, but to say lebron isn't the best player in the league is pretty crazy. im sure he'll get his ring this year or next.

I agree on both accounts. Philly without Mcnabb is a win for us. Regardless of how well Kevin Kolb has played for them in his starts he's the backup for a reason and I highly doubt that he would have the same kind of success Mcnabb would have over the course of a full season.

Regardless, I highly doubt the Eagles trade Mcnabb. Maybe I'm putting too much faith in the fat man but I don't think Andy Reid is that stupid.

Galloway had to agree to a contract with the Cowboys before the trade went through. It would be the same with this one.

I'd be willing to bet for the 20+ million the tag carries for him he'd sign it in a heartbeat regardless of any deal being worked. The matter would be more of the Panthers not wanting to hang that kind of money on him and definitely no other team wanting to pick it up. Nothing to do with his wanting or not wanting to sign it

For being a washed up former shell of himself, Vick threw an absolute strike the ONE pass he threw against us.

Vick can be scary.

Good deal for the Eagles but about this time last year we were fretting over their acquiring Peters, and we whooped 'em 3 times.

Peppers is a good acquisition for them, but Peppers and a Pick is even better. That being said, it's not like it makes them #1 int he division over night.

I don't really remember the play, but wasn't the receiver wide open?
