Don't make me laugh...He'll still go #2 to N.O. unless something's wrong with him at workouts.

Would you want to be the gm who passed on Leinart to take Cutler or Croyle...I wouldn't want to be the guy who passed on him for Young whose game I don't think will translate well to the NFL for a few years, but that's debatable...He had a much better game in the 2nd half of the Rose bowl than YOung, throwing the ball and putting points on the board...YOung only outshined him running, which was his SuperMan performance against a weak defense.

Ridiculous idea.

Young went 30-40 passing. Don't forget that. He was AT LEAST equal to Lienart passing in the 2nd half. Being a great passer doesnt make you a great

No way Leinart slides any further than the Jets at 4. If those 3 teams pass on him the Jets will knock people over getting that card to the Tags.
Yup.

The difference is really night and day. Rodgers was never close to going high, he wa smerely used as leverage to get Alex Smith to come down in asking price. Rodgers was ranked about where Cutler is.

Lienhart didn't hurt himself by not playing in the Senior Bowl any more than young did which is to say, none at all. Top guys still go top 5 regardless. When those two show up at Mobile scouts will get weak in knees even if they never do more than stroll around in their skivvies and smile for the cameras.

If Lienhart does fall like Rodgers then we can consider it Christmas.
It would probably be the best draft free fall for us since Emmitt Smith.

That would be worse than the Titans drafting that Dyson guy over Randy Moss.

I don't know who will be better out of Leinart and Young, but I would love it if Leinart fell to #18.

I have always been very unimpressed with Leinhart's arm strenght as it translates to the pro game. I heard that he had surgery on his throwing arm which is one of the reasons that he stayed in school. Can anyone confirm this? He looked ok to me in the Rose Bowl, and I just don't see him as anything more than a solid busdriver in the NFL. He made some smart plays and has a nice touch on his deep ball, but I doubt that he can make all of the passes necessary in the NFL. I don't want that type as our qb, but it sure seems like Parcells does. I really really don't want him, so I'm hoping he goes in the top three.

Not putting young down, but if you look at the 2nd half stats...he wasn't. Leinart was better, had more yards, and put up more points.

Also recall that Leinart was passing to guys covered tightly by sometimes two guys, getting smothered as they caught the ball. Young's receivers were so wide open, no one was in the picture, yet many times they had to go down to their knees to catch his low throws....again, not putting down Young, but Leinart showed both touch and velocity when needed. In the first half, I think he purposely floated a couple because he does have a great touch...the pass intercepted right at the goalline was clearly one where he underestimated the DB's speed and quickness....you didn't see that same mistake in the 2nd half when he started rifling the ball more.

I would also add that Leinart put up his numbers aginst a very good Texas defense.

Wayne, when did Leinhart show great velocity? I am going to go back and watch the game again looking for that, but I don't remember him throwing many passes with much velocity. I remember great touch, but not much velocity. It could be that he uses his velocity when he needs to and I do believe that he didn't need to as much in college as he will in the nfl. My tivo cut the game off in the 4th quarter, so hopefully what I need to see is before my footage ends. I'm not basing my opinion of him on the Rose Bowl alone, this game just confirmed what I have thought about him. This guy just scares me.

I live in Austin, I am the only one in town without an orange shirt, Vince Young lowers his draft status each time he gives an interview, there's no telling what secrets UT hid about this guy, I mean Ricky Williams had a love child about heisman time but the statesman didn't think it was newsworthy til after they announced the awards, personally I'll take Leinart, he has more smarts that Vince Young, and thats real improtant in the NFL, if anything I bet Young slides, there is so much disinformation going around, lets see how the combine goes before any of this kind of talk about Leinart..oh yeah could we please, please draft that power back he was frickin awsome, forget Reggie Bush that guy had the horns backin up, forget the fourth down play it happens to the best of em, remember Emmitt had a couple of those too..

Lienart is EXCELLENT!!!

He won games when they were close WITHOUT USING BUSH.

Thats how good the guy is.
He can throw every pass with great touch and has good arm strength.

Anyone knocking him is simply on medication or probably should be:)

Seriously this kid is the highest rated QB to come out in a long time.
Only Vince Young's heroics kept him from 2 BCS championships and Bush's flashy plays probably cost him a 2nd Heisman.

If any USC player wa soverrated it is part timer Bush not every down Lienart.

I've thought Leinart would bust or at least underwhelm for a long time now... He's not much more than Cade McNown IMO. Physically he doesn't impress me and I don't see him being a hardcore student of the game, either.

Listening to 2 separate radio stations this morning Mike and Mike and a local station with John Clayton, both said that he was an impressive interveiw that he raises his status in interveiws so what are you trying to say  .

I totally see Leinart slipping...He has no arm strength to speak of...I could see him being taken around 15-18

It would be ashamed if he slipped. He was sitting on top of the world last year with a guaranteed 1, and now who knows.

I hope that dance class was worth it. Either way, I don't think N.O. will pass on him.

This is a very dumb rumor. Lienart has to grade far higher than either of the QB's taken in last year's first round, so no way he falls that far (24, right?). If he fell to Dallas, it would be like Christmas in April.
