Why is the media so obsessed with painting Dez as a horrible person? I feel so bad for him and that he has to put up with this ****. A blatant attempt at character assassination.

Because it's a lot more interesting and generates more traffic than guys like Calvin Johnson, Demarius Thomas, AJ Green who have zero controversy surrounding them.

Which story are you going to click first?

"Dez Bryant and Cowboys are both negotiating very carefully, trying to find the best business option for both themselves and the team. Negotiations are cordial, although there is still much work to be done. If no deal is reached, the Cowboys will likely choose to use the Franchise Tag, which will upset a player who clearly deserves a long term contract."

or

"Troubled Wide Receiver with checkered past and a history of problems who nonetheless dominates on the field (even when alienating teammates and coaches with emotional outbursts) may be hiding a dark secret that is giving pause to the Cowboys brass from signing him. We're told that this new secret would rival Ray Rice and perhaps see Dez out of the league for 2015 and beyond."

So, one team does something fantastically stupid, and Dallas is required to do the same?

So, you don't think someone with Dez's production should receive what the market has set as a fair deal?

I'm not even sure why CBS hired the guy.

He's basically incarceratedbob with a law degree. Picks up crap from other sources, flavors it with a little "could be trouble" nonsense, tops it off with a healthy dose of wild speculation, and calls it news.

TMZ has actually broke a lot of real stories before anyone.

TMZ broke the Ray Rice Vid
How can you say they are not legitimate ?

On a flipside, how in the heck could such a video escape the hands of TMZ for a few years like this one supposedly has?

You never pay a receiver for what he's done. You pay him for what he will do. It took Jerry a LONG time to learn that. And if there are concerns over his back or behavior, that factors in greatly.

You never dump a huge percentage of your payroll on a receiver. This game is won at the quarterback position and on the offensive and defensive lines. Who are the great receivers for Seattle and New England? How many titles have Calvin Johnson, AJ Green, Julio Jones, Andre Johnson, etc, won?

As good as Dez is, he isn't especially fast, and he's limited in his ability to run route adjustments and whatnot. Pay him well, but pay him sensibly. Otherwise, franchise him and be done with it.

Not horrible. Just painfully immature and unpredictable.

Until they produce a video it is all BS. If they are holding out on a video with an expectation of being paid off by Dez it is extortion.

Maybe it's a video of last year's JAX game. As beatings go, what Dez did to that secondary was pretty brutal if I recall correctly.

Mike Florio from ProFootballTalk.com discussed the rumors regarding why Dez Bryant has not received a new contract from the Dallas Cowboys.

During his interaction with Shan & RJ, Florio brings up the possibility of a video involving Dez Bryant.

“I don’t know if there’s any video that exists,” says Florio. “I’m just saying there is some chatter out there.”

Terrible journalism.

florio is all about rumors. he is not a real football guy. he made his name and money by being "National Enquirer" of football. because that's what fans are interested in. I never take anything he or bleacher-report says seriously, because both are about clicks and not the truth.

ed werder is also the same way

If it bleeds, it leads. Make it bleed.

Dez' firey personality means people are going to be willing to believe the worst. Or at least entertain the worst. It makes him a juicy target for sensationalism. I agree, it's a shame, though.

The flip side is that passion is what makes us fans love him, so at least it's not all negative for him.

The delay here is because we're entertaining a very top contract for one of the higher paid positions in the league, and there's an older contract that was very poorly considered out there setting a bar that is not realistic and not smart for us to match. The rest of the market will adjust, eventually, and the only real question is whether or not that happens before Dez ends up playing a year under a franchise tag. I think it probably does, but we won't get there until much closer to the start of the season.

The art of fact-checking has fallen by the wayside.

So, pay him almost $13M on the cap versus half that................because, he's not that fast and limited in his ability to run route adjustments and whatnot. And, with these issues, he's averaged (including his rookie year when he missed 5 games) 81 catches, 1157 yards, and 12 TD's over 16 games since he came into the league. Seems like we know what he will do based on these numbers.

I seen his baby moms on the Gram. Sure you can never tell from pictures and words, but it don't seem like there any type of truth to this.

Why do people say things without any concrete evidence? Just to make headlines?

There really needs to be more accountability in journalism. One false report can damage a person's reputation and ability to make a living. You can't give a journalist the power to ruin someone's life on falsehoods and get away with it.

Mike Florio is such a piece of ****. I have never like the guy and the platform he is given on NBC makes me sick. The guy is a complete hack.

I also think the Florio's and Rappaport's of the world are just reaching. The contract negotiations have more to do wit the Cowboys situation of trying to keep Murray and Dez and some other players and the best way to go about and not all of those sideshow stuff that people like Florio think it is.

It's called NBC's Pro Football Talk.

Hate to be beating the dead horse again but I will continue to expound on how NBC frames the Cowboys in everything they do and Pro Football Talk is an extension of them. I've repeatedly called them out on how they dig us in game intro's and video highlights while pandering to the Giants and given you several examples. Professionals in the television business (especially post production) who I have working relationships with completely get what they do.

Another recent example--

The NFL Network did a piece on Fred Guadelli (the Executive Producer, Long Island native and Giants fan growing up) and the NBC production team on their preparation for the Super Bowl and every example they used in how they produce the game and setting camera angles were the same Eli Manning Super Bowl TDs over and over and over. 49 years of Super Bowls and it was the Eli Manning highlight reel.

Florio is constantly tweaking the Cowboys with negative stuff and he's right in step with NBC.
