Yes, he did. A ten year contract in fact. But, I think that was probably done just to keep him from taking the University of Texas job.
I will say this for what it is worth: He is a Texan. His wife is a Texan. He has never lived anywhere else. (People from the United States may not understand how those points factor into the equation, but they are BIG). He played high school football in Texas (state championship game he lost to Big Sandy with some player named Lovie Smith). He went to college in Texas. His wife went to college in Texas. His entire coaching career, high school and college, has been in Texas. And the pinnacle of all football jobs in Texas is that of the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. If Jerry Jones calls, he will answer.
I don't even live in Texas, but reading this post, I'm now a Texas patriot and have all sorts of sentiments for the state.
