I wanted to pass along some information I heard today. Without getting too much into it, I'll just say that I know some people who are involved in college coaching and are very well connected.

So the news: our front office has been in contact with 2 or 3 college coaches about a prospective coaching vacancy. One of those coaches we've contacted is Art Briles. Another is Lane Kiffin.

No word about whether the inquiries are about a head coaching vacancy or the Offensive Coordinator job. Guess we'll see.

I do pause at this, but nobody is dumb enough to hire kiffen again for a HC gig

right?

You'd seriously ask this question about Jerry? Seriously? Lord, I hope this is sarcasm (we definitely need a sarcasm icon on this forum).

You fellas can make fun of it all you want and question my information, but I can promise you I'd cry for days if we hire Kiffin. I assume it would be as an assistant in some capacity, but certainly wouldn't like it.

Briles would go to DC before he even thought about coaching Dallas. He's gonna be reunited with his RG3rd string.

My neighbor's cousin's brother-in-law's talking dog is friends with Briles' and Lane Kiffin's dogs and he confirmed this to be false.

This was bound to happen LOL, it happened to me with my 100th post or so, I never did it again :)

Message to the OP, without a link nobody believes anything, I´ve been through it.
I said that my brother played golf with Mike Shanahan in Cabo and he told him he was taking the Commanders job 2 weeks later (this was around December 20th, don´t remember the year), nobody believed and I got like 100 responses like this one and guess what, two weeks later Shanahan was in announced as the new HC for the Washington Commanders, moral lesson, don´t take it personal.

edit: I found the link LOL

Appreciate it. Cool story. No I don't take it personally, and honestly I'd poo poo it if it came from someone else too, so no big deal.

I can't link to a phone call! Something may come of it, or not. Truthfully I think teams probably reach out and touch base with a number of coaching candidates, but it may not signify that a guy is under serious consideration. I just heard something from someone who's never led me wrong and relayed it. Nothing more, nothing less.

Well, I hope it is, I think Briles would be a heck of a HC.

Charlie McCarthy for head coach . . . paired with Jerry Jones, those two dummies might fit well together. -- LOL

My trepidation with Briles as either HC or OC is that his offense is designed to create downfield throwing opportunities. It's a vertical passing attack. We've seen time after time again that one of Romo's weaknesses is the deep ball. He's great underneath and intermediate (especially the seam) but those 9-routes and deep posts are not his strength. I'm sure Briles would adapt and create a net positive out of this offense... but just something to think about.

nobody can seriously be considering Lane Kiffin for a HC job. I don't know how he's gotten the ones he's had. He's done nothing with the Raiders, less than nothing with the Vols, nothing with USC. He's living on his dad's name, as far as I can tell, and even that has got to be losing some value at this point.
