ROFL, Rappoport is saying the deal with Mike is basically done in Dallas, they are just arguing over length of contract.
Have a very hard time seeing any logic in this report when they are actively interviewing other guys.
Does Chicago want to wait on MM to see if Jerry closes the deal? With Pete Carroll in hand? Seems unlikely.

If he has any other job in his back pocket he is way gone.

The deal Jerry will offer is going to be like 100k a year with a 20m bonus for winning the SB, then allow the roster to get worse.

He already told us about the “incentive based” thing he has in his warped (and getting worse) brain.

I’m fine with it. Mike keeps them mediocre. This needs to be properly run into the ground before it has any shot of getting better.

Hes probably a really good fit for Chicago so it makes sense. There aren't super bowl expectations there, thats just a franchise trying to get back to respectability. They've gone the uprising coordinator route multiple times now and gotten burned. A guy with a long history of HC experience and a reputation for working with QBs seems like a reasonable route for Chicago to take if they get the opportunity. He would be a good option if even to get them on the right path for 3 years to hand it off to the next guy to try and put them over the top.

MM is grossly underpaid. Jerry is probably going to have to double his salary. Which we all know Jerry doesn't want to do. The issue is MM needs to have leverage to get what he wants, which is why I'm skeptical the Chicago job "interest" isn't coming from his side. If the interest from Chicago is legitimate, then MM has leverage to get a hefty raise from Jerry b/c there aren't many coaching alternatives for Dallas right now. Ben Johnson is going to cost a lot more than MM, Belicheck is probably staying in college to setup his son, and I don't think Pete Carroll is a good fit.

The thread title is misleading
He's saying if MM leaves he has a 100%...chance...of getting the Bears job
But his chances of staying in Dallas are fair

When your owner is just fine with winning 4 wild card playoff games in three decades, wasting a whole decade with Jason Garrett, winning 1 wild card game in Big Mac’s five years here (so far)…it shouldn’t surprise us what his comfort looks like.

I guess what I’m saying is if this owner is interested in keeping things the same with almost nothing to show for it, there cannot be much hope for a brighter future. Hope I’m wrong.

Strong endorsement ....... she has some serious ears out there ( similar to Glazer, Breer and Rapsheet )

Isn't the headline kind of misleading?

Unless I am reading this wrong, what's being said is if he doesn't stay in Dallas, it's 100% he's going to the Bears.

Her words......

"Look I think if Mike McCarthy does wind up moving on or Dallas, Jerry says yea we're going to go in a different direction... I 100% think he has a good shot at getting that Chicago Bears job.

My bad in using chance instead of "shot"

While both "good shot" and "good chance" can imply a positive opportunity to succeed, "good shot" usually refers to a specific attempt at a goal or action with a high likelihood of success based on the situation and the individual's skill, while "good chance" is a broader term indicating a favorable situation with a higher probability of achieving a desired outcome, not necessarily tied to a single action.

If this part is true, McCarthy should play the negotiating game with Jerry for the next 7-10 days and then bounce. He will likely get the desired $$ and length of contract anywhere but Dallas.
