Bam Margera was not too pleased with Ebert's tweet.

"I just lost my best friend," Margera tweeted late Monday night.

Millions of people are crying right now, shut your fat f****** mouth!"

"Millions of people are crying right now?"

Probably not.

I think he was trying to be witty, not cracking a joke.

I don't know why anyone really expects class. The guy made his living as a critic, that alone should tell you the type of personality he might possess.

I don't know why anyone would expect class either.. as i said before, didn't hear too many people worrying about using class when regarding OJ during that whole incident. (Or replace OJ with your local town felon/idiot)

I think its "appropriate" (im gonna stay away from the word class here) to express heartfelt emotion and sympathy for the friend who was in the car with him, for Dunn's family and loved ones, and for the other guy's family and loved ones. I can only imagine if he had swerved the other way and hit a car driven by the families of any of us here, how we would feel about the man then.

Who said I expect class from Roger Ebert? All I said was that it was a classless statement, which it was.

I was just responding to TheCount's post.

As i've said, if he was trying to make a joke.. classless sure.

If he was trying to make a point of the stupidity of Dunn's actions, im fine with that.

Either way, not worrying about how much class anyone regards a fool who took his friend's life, could have easily taken more innocent people's lives on the road, and would be locked up in jail and considered a felon if he were still alive.

I wouldn't have made the comment, but again, if he wasn't trying to crack a joke, then i don't have a huge problem with it.

Let's all just take a breath here. This is getting a little too personal and that's not going to end well.

It's a shame that two young men are dead. They are dead because they made bad choices. That's the long and short of it. Everybody is entitled to their own opinions but lets not let this thing spill into something else.

Thank you.

I didn't think it was getting personal at all.. where did you see that? Not once have any of us taken a shot at another. We're just dicussing how we feel about the particular incident.

The real question that comes to mind when i think about "class" and Ryan Dunn.. is how do we as a society let someone become a millionaire by simply running around being a "jackarse"? His entire life and entire income was based on doing very classless and stupid things and we as a country ate it up and allowed him to get rich off of that lifestyle.. then when he goes and kills himself doing the same stupid stuff, we say that people arn't being very classy in regarding him. It makes no sense if you stop and think and really shows how silly and messed up our society is sometimes.

I don't think it's gotten personal, it's not even really arguing, everyone is civilly stating their opinion.

Yes, he did a stupid thing, but this is absurd.

The radical Westboro Baptist Church has announced plans to protest the funeral of "*******" star Ryan Dunn.

The Kansas-based organization, known for its stance against homosexuality and its protests at military funerals, sent out a press release touting that Dunn "is in hell."

According to the group, Dunn's fatal car accident in West Goshen, Pa., on Monday was the result of his behavior on the MTV reality series and corresponding films, in which he was often seen engaging in crazy - and sometimes sexual - stunts.

Westboro deemed Dunn a "drab pervert" and accused him of promoting "porn-level filth… to get rich off a perverse generation."

"In His wrath, God cut off this young man in the prime of his life, because he made a mock of sin, and taught his fellow man to grievously sin against God!" the release said.

Have they done anything that can't be deemed absurd? It's pretty much a given if Westboro is involved, it's going to be absurd.

I imagine that won't turn out too well for them. If they did that to one of my friends' funerals.....they better be ready to stay at the cemetery for an extended visit.

What Ebert said was right.

If he wasn't a celebrity, he'd just be another idiot who got in his car drunk and drove at speeds of 140 miles an hour like a complete fool and killed an innocent passenger.

Its just lucky he didn't crash into another car because it could have been any of your families that he killed if he did.

Exactly.

Ryan Dunn drinking buddy describes final binge before crash

By Tim Molloy

TheWrap

A friend of Ryan Dunn's who drank with the "*******" star in the hours before the car crash that killed him said Dunn had at least four whiskey shots and beer, and told him he described a past addiction to pain killers.

In an interview with The Daily, Thaddeus Kalinoski said he spent nearly five hours drinking with Dunn at Barnaby's bar in West Chester, Pa. Kalinoski said he was so "severely intoxicated" after the binge that he passed out in his car rather than drive home.

"I could barely walk," he said. "I couldn't drive home so I passed out in my car. That's the type of environment it became."

The Boston Herald reported, meanwhile, that Dunn has 23 traffic citations in the 13 years before his death, including for DUI. The charges were dropped after he completed a probationary program and received a suspended license, the paper said.

Dunn tweeted a picture of himself and his passenger, 30-year-old Zachary Hartwell, drinking at the bar in the hours before the crash. Hartwell was also killed when Dunn's Porsche 911 flew over a guardrail, hit a tree, and burst into flames.

"He was shooting picklebacks — whiskey shots chased by pickle juice," Kalinoski, an acquaintance of Dunn's, told The Daily. "The shots were coming right to him. They were all over the bar."

He said Dunn also had "a number of beers" between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m, and became the life of the party as the bar filled up.

"[Dunn] was drinking quick...

Not surprising. They'll continue to do things like this because people will continue to write about them doing it and send cameras to watch them do it.

If the media would stop giving them the publicity they crave then they'd stop doing these things. It's all about the attention they get for it and the media eats it right up.

That's how I feel. The only reason anyone wants people to feel bad for Dunn here, and think the statements were terrible, is cause he's a celebrity.

Joe Nobody down the street does this and pretty much everyone would say "Well he's an idiot and thank God he didn't kill anyone I know or love."

Ren;3978781 said:
When it comes to drunk driving i am more worried about idiots like Dunn racing down the highways then i am about class. The only tragedy here is that he killed someone else as well

Yep. Exactly.

I'm tired of people doing this stupid drunk driving and getting a pass cause everyone needs to be classy and respectful of the person who died.

A person who makes that decision, and kills himself and/or others deserves zero respect from anyone.

RoyTheHammer;3978842 said:
You're worried about class for a guy who made millions shoving toy cars up his arse. He's a drunk driving idiot who decided it'd be a good idea to go 140 miles an hour in his Porsche with a friend in the car. Im not that worried about holding my tongue and making a classy statement about someone who would be charged with homocide if he had survived.

He just as easily could have swerved the other way and killed another innocent family. What if it was yours? Would you be worried about how classy your statments were then? Get real..

I don't care that he did stupid stuff for a living to make money. That doesn't even matter to me. He could have been a rich and famous lawyer and the worry about class would take a back seat for me for just the reason you mentioned in your second paragraph there. This time the world got lucky and it was only him, and his friend that he had in his car, and not other people as well.

RoyTheHammer;3978854 said:
Please.. don't come on here and act like you know me at all.

The fact is, i feel for Dunn's family and loved ones, as well as the passengers.. but for Dunn himself i feel no sympathy. He doesn't deserve anyone's sympathy for his actions.

Same. I feel bad for their family and friends. But I don't feel bad for Dunn at all.

I feel a little more for the passenger but even then not totally cause he did make the decision to get into the car, with a driver who was drunk, so that's also on him as well.

CowboyDan;3978865 said:
It's not about being a true statement. It's about showing class in the wake of someone's fiery death. He was working off an assumption that Dunn was driving drunk, which turned out to be true. That alone takes some brass. (He later apologized for that assumption)
However, if he felt so compelled to send a drunk driving message (as if the details of the accident aren't a clear enough message of a social problem that everyone is already aware of) he should said something like:

"My sympathy to the friends and family of Ryan Dunn and his passenger. Drinking and driving is never a good idea."

Assumption? Wasn't there a tweet, or a facebook post, already up from Dunn from hours before this showing them partying and stuff? It's not really an assumption when the story broke and they already had links to him showing them drinking just a couple of short hours before. He wasn't assuming anything he was putting 2 and 2 together.

He definately could have worded it better, I completely agree with you there, but at what point does this society stop handling these situations with kid gloves and start simply putting things like they are?

tomson75;3978871 said:
I'm not acting like I know who you are....I'm reacting to what you've stated.

No one is asking you to be sympathetic to Dunn....or asking anyone else to be. The issue here is with people acting like the fact that what Dunn did was incredibly stupid gives others the license to act like *******s in the wake of his death. It doesn't.

It has ZERO to do with Dunn's behavior, but rather everything to do with the behavior of people that we still share air with.

I can see why people would choose to hate the man, and I have no issue with that....but what he did wasn't intentional and his friends and relatives deserve some measure of respect IMO.

Wasn't intentional? He intentionally got in the car and drove while drunk, did he not? He intentionally made that decision.

That means he intentionally decided he didn't care about the consequences. I'm sure the guy didn't wake up that day saying "Gee I hope I die tonight" but he obviously didn't care one way or another or he wouldn't have gotten behind the wheel of the car while drinking.

I don't care that he wasn't intending to have a wreck and die. I care that he chose to drink, a lot, and then get behind the wheel of a car thus endangering the life of himself, his friend with him, and anyone else on the road. He then compounded that problem by also choosing to drive 130-140 miles an hour while drunk.

I feel bad for his friends and family. It sucks that they're left to pick up the pieces after such a stupid act.

And just to clarify this is a message board right? Which would be where people post their opinions on topics posted?

So are you saying that in a situation like this that only people who want to post RIP, and man that sucks that he's gone, should be allowed to voice their opinion on it out of respect for other people?

If people didn't want to see the strong opinions, that go the other way, then they probably shouldn't have posted it on a forum.

I'm glad you were able to answer your own question in regards to whether or not it was intentional. If you read the rest of my comments, I think its rather obvious I was referencing "intentions" in comparison to rapists, pedophiles, and murderers....or others that intentionally took a life.

Please tell me where I informed anyone that they couldn't share their opinion. I simply offered mine in regards to theirs....if that offends you, oh well. I simply think that the people that act like *******s in response to what another ******* did really don't have much of a platform to preach from.

Hypocrisy runs thick in this thread.
