I was just responding to TheCount's post.
As i've said, if he was trying to make a joke.. classless sure.
If he was trying to make a point of the stupidity of Dunn's actions, im fine with that.
Either way, not worrying about how much class anyone regards a fool who took his friend's life, could have easily taken more innocent people's lives on the road, and would be locked up in jail and considered a felon if he were still alive.
I wouldn't have made the comment, but again, if he wasn't trying to crack a joke, then i don't have a huge problem with it.
Good points.

Yes, he did a stupid thing, but this is absurd.

The radical Westboro Baptist Church has announced plans to protest the funeral of "*******" star Ryan Dunn.
The Kansas-based organization, known for its stance against homosexuality and its protests at military funerals, sent out a press release touting that Dunn "is in hell."
According to the group, Dunn's fatal car accident in West Goshen, Pa., on Monday was the result of his behavior on the MTV reality series and corresponding films, in which he was often seen engaging in crazy - and sometimes sexual - stunts.
Westboro deemed Dunn a "drab pervert" and accused him of promoting "porn-level filth… to get rich off a perverse generation."
"In His wrath, God cut off this young man in the prime of his life, because he made a mock of sin, and taught his fellow man to grievously sin against God!" the release said.

Not surprising. They'll continue to do things like this because people will continue to write about them doing it and send cameras to watch them do it.
If the media would stop giving them the publicity they crave then they'd stop doing these things. It's all about the attention they get for it and the media eats it right up.

What Ebert said was right.
If he wasn't a celebrity, he'd just be another idiot who got in his car drunk and drove at speeds of 140 miles an hour like a complete fool and killed an innocent passenger.
Its just lucky he didn't crash into another car because it could have been any of your families that he killed if he did.
That's how I feel. The only reason anyone wants people to feel bad for Dunn here, and think the statements were terrible, is cause he's a celebrity.
Joe Nobody down the street does this and pretty much everyone would say "Well he's an idiot and thank God he didn't kill anyone I know or love."

When it comes to drunk driving i am more worried about idiots like Dunn racing down the highways then i am about class. The only tragedy here is that he killed someone else as well
Yep. Exactly.
I'm tired of people doing this stupid drunk driving and getting a pass cause everyone needs to be classy and respectful of the person who died.
A person who makes that decision, and kills himself and/or others deserves zero respect from anyone.

You're worried about class for a guy who made millions shoving toy cars up his arse. He's a drunk driving idiot who decided it'd be a good idea to go 140 miles an hour in his Porsche with a friend in the car. Im not that worried about holding my tongue and making a classy statement about someone who would be charged with homocide if he had survived.
He just as easily could have swerved the other way and killed another innocent family. What if it was yours? Would you be worried about how classy your statments were then? Get real..
I don't care that he did stupid stuff for a living to make money. That doesn't even matter to me. He could have been a rich and famous lawyer and the worry about class would take a back seat for me for just the reason you mentioned in your second paragraph there. This time the world got lucky and it was only him, and his friend that he had in his car, and not other people as well.

Please.. don't come on here and act like you know me at all.
The fact is, i feel for Dunn's family and loved ones, as well as the passengers.. but for Dunn himself i feel no sympathy. He doesn't deserve anyone's sympathy for his actions.
Same. I feel bad for their family and friends. But I don't feel bad for Dunn at all.
I feel a little more for the passenger but even then not totally cause he did make the decision to get into the car, with a driver who was drunk, so that's also on him as well.

It's not about being a true statement. It's about showing class in the wake of someone's fiery death. He was working off an assumption that Dunn was driving drunk, which turned out to be true. That alone takes some brass. (He later apologized for that assumption)
However, if he felt so compelled to send a drunk driving message (as if the details of the accident aren't a clear enough message of a social problem that everyone is already aware of) he should said something like:
"My sympathy to the friends and family of Ryan Dunn and his passenger. Drinking and driving is never a good idea."
Assumption? Wasn't there a tweet, or a facebook post, already up from Dunn from hours before this showing them partying and stuff? It's not really an assumption when the story broke and they already had links to him showing them drinking just a couple of short hours before. He wasn't assuming anything he was putting 2 and 2 together.
He definately could have worded it better, I completely agree with you there, but at what point does this society stop handling these situations with kid gloves and start simply putting things like they are?

I'm not acting like I know who you are....I'm reacting to what you've stated.
No one is asking you to be sympathetic to Dunn....or asking anyone else to be. The issue here is with people acting like the fact that what Dunn did was incredibly stupid gives others the license to act like *******s in the wake of his death. It doesn't.
It has ZERO to do with Dunn's behavior, but rather everything to do with the behavior of people that we still share air with.
I can see why people would choose to hate the man, and I have no issue with that....but what he did wasn't intentional and his friends and relatives deserve some measure of respect IMO.
Wasn't intentional? He intentionally got in the car and drove while drunk, did he not? He intentionally made that decision.
That means he intentionally decided he didn't care about the consequences. I'm sure the guy didn't wake up that day saying "Gee I hope I die tonight" but he obviously didn't care one way or another or he wouldn't have gotten behind the wheel of the car while drinking.
I don't care that he wasn't intending to have a wreck and die. I care that he chose to drink, a lot, and then get behind the wheel of a car thus endangering the life of himself, his friend with him, and anyone else on the road. He then compounded that problem by also choosing to drive 130-140 miles an hour while drunk.
I feel bad for his friends and family. It sucks that they're left to pick up the pieces after such a stupid act.
And just to clarify this is a message board right? Which would be where people post their opinions on topics posted?
So are you saying that in a situation like this that only people who want to post RIP, and man that sucks that he's gone, should be allowed to voice their opinion on it out of respect for other people?
If people didn't want to see the strong opinions, that go the other way, then they probably shouldn't have posted it on a forum.
