Seattle Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane is doubtful to return to Super Bowl XLIX after suffering a gruesome wrist injury after making an interception in the first quarter.
Lane, Seattle’s nickel corner, picked off New England quarterback Tom Brady in the end zone after a 13-play, 58-yard drive into the Seahawks’ red zone. On third-and-6 from the Seattle 10, Brady rushed a pass toward receiver Julian Edelman while under intense pressure from Seattle defensive end Michael Bennett.
Lane leaped high in the air and snagged the pass, returning it 14 yards out of the end zone. But as he was tackled along the sideline by Edelman, Lane flipped up into the air and landed awkwardly, bending back his left wrist far more than natural.
Lane was officially listed as doubtful to return with an arm injury. In reality, there is no chance he’ll be returning to the game.
