Saints 23 -vs- Falcons 3

I couldn't disagree more. Self promotion is "human nature"? It doesn't seem to be for Marvin Harrison, Tom Brady, Roy Williams, Warrick Dunn, or plenty of others. It wasn't for Troy or Roger or plenty of other Hall of Fame players from our franchise alone.

Sorry, I'll take the guy who lets his play do the talking over the one who constantly beats his chest in front of a camera any day. And I bet I'm not the only one who thinks so.

Really?

Because I swear I've seen Roy and Tom in commercials. Marvin probably has too. And I'm pretty sure Dunn has.

Some self promote in different ways and do so with more frequency than others.

What does it matter that the majority of Americans want them to win? Are you subtlely saying it's fixed??

Gotta admit all the hurricane/feel good talk would be dampered a little bit if the Saints were losing.
I should've been more clear on this. What I meant was that the Saints have more to play for. This win just doesn't help them in the standings, it also helps boost the morale of a city that was nearly devastated a year ago. The extra sentiment can really go a long way in motivating a team to win.

Sorry for the confusion...

Classic Sean Payton on that last Saints drive. From the 2-3 yd line.. run, stufffed. run, stuffed. run, stuffed. Field Goal.

Good to see things haven't changed.

Except that after tonight his team will be 3-0 (when most people thought they were the worst team in the league heading into the season) and his offense is averaging around 27 points per game.

Wow, you are really grasping at straws.

"You must assume that something caused him to take it out of his pants"
ah that was classic, LOL

I love watching Brees play with his command of the offense, his ability to read a defense and his accuracy. This is a guy who couldn't get a scholarship to his hometown UT because they didn't think his arm was strong enough for a major college program. Think the Dolphins are regretting not making more of a push for him? (I heard Dante Culpepper has a cannon for an arm).

No doubt, but I would still bet my life that we would beat them straight up.

Commercials aren't a way of self promoting?

Riiiight....They do it because they really believe in Capital One and its fine credit cards.

Or they like being paid money for doing it which helps promote themselves.

Either....or....

Who cares if Hall self promotes? Does it prevent any of our players from doing the same? Does it impact how our players play?

No.

All it has done is supposedly "robbed" Newman of a Pro Bowl. Which is, my guess, the underlying cause for the anti-Hall stuff.

And Brees didn't even cost a draft pick. :)

Just peeked at the stats.......Atlanta has 5, countem' 5 first downs tonight so far.

I put together a resume for a job.

Resume = self-promoting.

I = DeAngelo Hall.

Actually, a resume is a form of self promotion. Are you not trying to sell yourself?

Did I say all self promotion was equal? No. I said players do it to various amounts in different ways.

You twisted the logic.

Um..seriously?? Perhaps you enjoy stirring the pot.. anyhow..Commercials are not "self" promotion.. they are usually the results of being a talented, well-known and well respected.

I will admit that you can CHOOSE to get ahead or recognized by being self-promoting.. I don't do this at work, but I have seen it many times by others..

and that person may get promotions and be well spoken of by management... but it tends to breed contempt amongst co-workers. By the same token, there are many people who just go to work and work hard every day, whom while it unfortunately will sometimes take longer to be recognized for their accomplishments, they will also have the respect of their peers.

Just two different personalities...

Hopefully we can contain Vick when we play them like the Saints defense is currently doing...

Really? So, what are you proposing I meant when I said "Resume = Self-promotion"?

Oh, I think I meant that a resume is a form of self promotion. See, those two dashes, one right above the other...that's an equals sign.

Of course it can be done in different ways. Thank you for that incredible piece of info, though.

But you know exactly what CL was talking about. Comparing those guys being in, say, a credit card commercial, to what DeAngelo Hall does on a week to week basis is moronic. So moronic, that I think you are just arguing for the sake of arguing.
