Saints Are Not America's Team

Yup..and guess which team has 2 first round picks this year. Pats get Seattle's pick for the Branch deal. So they dump Branch and his salary and get a receiver that puts up equal numbers for 1/2 the salary. Billijerk is a genius, it's confirmed.
The Colts will finally make a stand, the law of averages has to call their number eventually and they handed New England a loss on the road earlier this year before the defense stepped up.

The law of averages hasnt called the Chicago Cubs number in 98 years.

Geez you guys are a bunch of whiners... we gave you a butt-whippin now you are hoping against hope that we lose.... all because a few radio hacks are calling us "America's Team"... i could care less aout that monicor..... It is interesting to read the threads... You guys are beginning to sound like we did for 39 years... losers....... sort of fitting

Uh, technically speaking... the Saints are still losers. You see, you haven't won anything of consequence yet. Yeah it's nice to say you made it to the NFC championship, but if you lose, you're still a loser.

we cowboys fans are getting a bit loserish i agree. All you guys do (especially aikbach) is talk about what the cowboys did 10 years ago and try to downplay the teams that are competetive now.
Isnt it obvious that in the salary cap era (where u cant buy championships) we have been medicore at best!?

A loser points out names of people he disagrees with to set up a straw man. I haven't even done what you have claimed.

Football and baseball have just been so different historically, good teams tend to eventually get their rewards in the NFL.

Can you imagine referring to another player as "Sweetness"? Then what makes them think they can steal our moniker? Will "Doomsday" be pilfered next?

What if someone decided to Hail to the Chiefs or Hail to the Texans? It sounds daft doesn't it.

What if someone tried to call someone other than the Saints the Ainsts, it wouldn't stick.

Tradition is what it is, people don't have to like it but it remains tradition.

Can someone explain to me how the Cowboys ever got the name " America's team "?

Really, I don't understand this title that has been given to your team. It's not like everyone in America is a Cowboys fan. Just doesn't make any sense.

I believe it was coined by NFL films. Prior to that, we were called "next year's champs".

I've heard rumors that Landry and Tex Schramm never liked the moniker because it put the bullseye directly on the Cowboys. It drove either the strong love, or the strong hate for the Cowboys. Till this day, there is nothing in the middle. The only other sports franchise that is truly either loved or hated is the New York Yankees.

Schramm loved it, Landry warmed to it eventually but was cautious about embracing it.

"America's Welfare Team,,, The New Orlean's Saints"

anyone want to contradict me, do the math on the Governments website for the facts. I will leave the politics for another website.

BTW, I'm rooting for them, but the press better leave that America's team where it has been, or a Country ***-Whoop is close at hand...

(lobster claw)

people just felt sorry for them w/ Katrina and all

rising from the ashes, the media digs that kind of crap

Dallas is not America's Team. The Cowboys earned the title by winning and winning consistently. They have given up the title over the last 11 years. I never really cared for the name because I just cared about the Cowboys. If other wanted to jump on the band wagon or hate on the team, fine because they could do nothing about Dallas just winning. Now Dallas is losing and those band wagoners are gone. I still root on My Team. When they start winning playoff games and Superbowls again, the stupid title will come back and I will still be around cheering on My Team.

Playoff Team ...sure. But I don't know about the Saints being America's Team, but I can sure tell you about Reggie Bush seeing Stars and Stripes after Sheldon Brown tug his butt on that one play. I'll bet he was singing Yankee Doodle Dandy!

I'm just glad Reggie Bush wasn't injured badly, and that it was a clean hit!

If Dallas isnt America's team why do they have the most watched nationally televised games every year. 6 of the 8 most watched games on national TV this featured the Dallas Cowboys. That says it all. The Saints are a feel good story that will die down in a year or 2, while Dallas will always be America's team whether ESPN or any other medIDIOTS like it or not.
