Nobody is giving them a pass. Great QBs get passes because they play great for years. Nobody denies their mistakes. Scrubs get criticized because they do scrubby things way too often.

Playing tough defense and running the ball effectively is an absolute must to win in the playoffs on top of having a good- to very good QB.
No QB gets deep in January without it.
Even Mahomes' defense had to help him out along the way last year.

This is typical Brees bad playoff game, where it’s his play that ultimately hurt the team. They should have never gone away from running.

I don’t get why people don’t understand the need for the run to impose its will on the OL. Once that happens QBs sit back in the pocket all day. Brady has all day now, while Brees is a mess.

Brees is too short. Just a little interior push always gets to him in the playoffs. If he was 6’ 4” like Brady, he would be a completely different beast.
