There was a huge thread with a number of fans trying to compare him to Parsons. There were comments in other threads all over the board comparing them. I’m not saying he’s not going to develop into a good player but fans tend to go way overboard on players we draft. There was even a thread predicting how many sacks Williams would get and some fans were predicting double digits. There was more love for Williams than there was for Parsons when we drafted him because a lot of fans didn’t like the Parsons pick. A lot of fans didn’t like the idea of us drafting a linebacker and were disappointed we didn’t end up with one of the corners or Slater the LT.

I think part of this was the Randy Gregory factor as well. Many felt he would come in and equal Gregory's production with ease.

Many fans bought that and they were wrong at least so far. We’ll just have to see how the rest of the season plays out for him.

Yeah, so far.

I never expected anything until next year as for any production replacing Gregory.
As I said, just want to see improvement as the season goes along.

Williams is strong, fast and mean. Give SW time to develop.

My question is what are they going to do with Basham when he is healthy again? Who's giving up snaps for Basham to play?
They can keep Basham on IR until needed.

The point is fans are comparing him to Parsons which is why the question was asked. There were posts all over the board this summer with fans trying to compare him to Parsons. I pointed out several times that Williams wasn’t drafted near as high as Parsons but some fans were acting like they’re the same player. lol There was a big thread that was started here about it but I can’t locate it.
The posts were with regards to Sam Williams and Parsons appearing to be twins. Their faces not their performance.

I noticed in a game that they were standing next to each other on the sideline and they definitely have a remarkable similarity.

It would be difficult to identify one from the other based on a headshot photo.

Isn't there a time limit?
There is not a time limit. In theory the player should not stay on IR once he is 100% healthy, but if the player says he still has soreness then that's enough to keep him on IR.

Those aren’t the posts I’m referring to. lol It was all about their sack potential.

Link? I'm curious to see comparisons.

There were plenty of fans trying to make comparisons. Don’t know how you missed them. Go search the posts from this summer. This is just one of the threads.

I will say this. I believe the Cowboys think Williams could be a Parsons light. They think they got one of the top pass rushers in the draft. My only hesitation is Williams was not one of the Cowboys top 35 players on the unofficial draft board.

Man— I hope Williams is every bit the dawg Parsons is. His measureables and tape are great.

This is the second thread comparing Sam Williams with Micah Parsons. Tap the brakes!

Anyone who compares with Micah Parsons on an even scale will likely be a winner in my book! Gotta love this guy!

"Compare" is dependent on the context.

The context of those posts was not that he will definitely be like Parsons, just that physically he has similarities and therefore might be a really good pick.

Cautiously optimistic is how I would describe the tone of that thread.

I don't think anybody expects any draft pick to actually be on the level of Micah Parsons. Parsons is already one of the best players that I've seen on a football field...ever. Expecting any pick to be that good even if #1 overall would be absurd.

Having said that, Sam Williams viewed without any reference to Parsons, is a true freak athlete. I cannot remember any 4.4 forty type players that had his type of power to repeatedly bull-rush NFL OTs.

I watched all of his snaps from the preseason and the limited snaps he had played in the regular season. Some of his plays have shown absurd physical ability. He repeatedly bull-rush OT Charles Cross like Vita Vea vs Connor Williams last year.

There was a run outside the LT in the preseason where he tossed a TE then tossed a FB to the ground without slowing down and got out near the sideline to tackle the ball carrier. I can't remember that type of play from any Cowboys DE and definitely not any on the current roster. Then in a recent game there was the play where he tossed the TE like a bowling ball into the ball carrier. I have seen that by DLinemen a few times but not any that ran a 4.4 forty or anything close to it.

Even on the play where he got the big penalty for hitting the QB as he was (according to the refs) out of bounds, SW had come from the far side of the field and ran down Giants QB Daniel Jones. SW covered about 10 more yards than Jones to get to that spot.

I'll be shocked if SW is not a better player than DLaw by sometime in the 2023 season.

Not about to waste my time reading all that. You wanted a link with fans comparing him to Parsons and you got one.

My claims were backed up with a link and you’re crying because you just got owned. Get over it! Lol
The link did not match your claims.

Maybe you should send hateful tweets to Rosie O'Donnell...
