Sam Williams Impression

Minus the penalties he's had, how has this young man impressed you so far. We worked him out (Quinn) saw something special in him, to take him. I know we have a lot of depth, but is there anything that you saw that sticks out so far??

He is fast in straight away speed. However, he doesn't seem to have that bend to turn the corner like a true Defensive End can. He also isn't good with this hands. Once he learns all of that, I think he will be a very good DE. But for now, he's talent is raw and learning.

He’s made a couple of plays but haven’t really noticed him much. There were concerns about him being a liability against the run which may be limiting his snaps.
Sam Williams a liability against the run? That's funny.

Have you been watching the ganes bro? If anything, the veterans playing on the right DE position during the run have been crashed inside constantly and seen trailing the runner around the edge due to lack of speed.

Sam Williams is one of the few who has the speed and strength to better secure that edge...if only Dan Quinn will play him more. Sam has even shut down the run to his side a few times he has played.

I can’t wait to see Devon Hopper on the field with Parsons and Cox

That was the book on him coming out of college that he was a liability against the run. At least that’s what I was hearing. Can’t say I’ve seen him on the field a whole lot he’s only had four tackles this season.

Sam Williams shows ridiculous strength for a rookie. He does seem to be overly concerned with setting the edge against the run and I believe it has slowed his pass rush. But he has been phenomenal against the run so far.
I thought Parsons looked slow or hesitant the first few games last year as well. I feel he will acclimate and make a hell of a DE at some point. He’s still a very raw prospect.

I like a lot of what I’ve seen of Sam Williams. I heard him interviewed this summer onDallas radio station “The Ticket” and he shared he has only been playing football since his soph year in HS. He’s still developing and learning the game. He’s probably going to emerge either late in the season or maybe next year. His ceiling is high.

Yeah he is still thinking out there, by seasons end hopefully he will rise to the top.

Preseason Video.

The Cowboys are only 4 games into the season. There are lots of football to be played. Some players take longer to adapt. Right now, Dallas, with their depth on the defensive line, can afford to be patient with him.

Darn few players are instant superstars like Parsons.
4 games into his first season
He’s has the raw talent to be good but he needs to develop and that takes time for most players
