Double team Parson's and the QB can be eating pudding back there waiting for wide receivers to get open. Hard to need more talent and have no money available according to management.
Don't even need to double Parsons when you have a turnstile in the middle of the defensive line. Runs been going up thr middle of the line for 5 years with thr front office addressing it with one guy who is a project at best.

I feel bad for Sam, but I am not going to pretend we just lost a super star. Sam has shown flashed in limited snaps the last two years, but he has also made some dumb penalties in bad situations. The worst part about this injury is the lack of serious depth at DE. Kneeland and Fehoko are going to have to step up in a big and unexpected way now. This injury may hurt Micah more than anyone. The Cowboys need a serious pass rush threat opposite Micah to take some of the pressure off Micah. Maybe Sam was that guy?

Unfortunate injury. Had hoped he'd show something consistently this season.

Now the coaches need to win with even less.

This is a blessing in disguise....no more dumb penalties. The move is Golston to LDE....his natural spot anyway.

LDE- Golston/Parsons
RDE- Kneeland/D-Law

Parsons and D-Law were gonna be our pass rush specialist anyway....

Training camp injuries happen to every team every year. It's random like a bad lottery. You never know who it's going to be.....or how many.

We just have to accept that it is part of the game and hope for the best. Luck, good or bad, does play a part.

Marshawn Kneeland's status will be elevated to the forefront of the DE lineup. His pass rushing qualifications are, without question, excellent.

exactly! Folks aren't realizing this fact. Dude was pushing to start. That was the plan. Losing a cog in the wheel like him was a big setback short term, maybe Longterm. Its now on Jerry and Stevie/McClay to find a real viable solution pronto. We were already thin at line. Now a slight problem has been magnified 3 fold. We could see if a guy can be had via trade. Are their any disgruntled DE prospects on a team thats holding out or that can be traded? Any teams with a surplus of ends? I haven't had much time yet to do a deep dive.
Without Dorrance and Fowler , Williams was absolutely going to be a starting DE. So, this will push Micah back to DE where he is completely worthless against the run. The hope was to get him back to LB. Probably not happening now. We have no cap space unless they sign Dak who’s currently eating 60M of cap space. So, any replacement is likely to be a dumpster dive.

I think this is right. With Parsons getting snaps at LB again the ends were probably projected to be DLaw/Williams on early down and Williams/Parsons on obvious passing downs with Kneeland being a rotational piece. Williams was likely the guy projected to actually get the most snaps at end while Parsons rotated at LB, DLaw sees limited snaps these days and Kneeland being the main rotational piece.

I think the most likely solution here is DLaw and Kneeland getting more snaps which could be risky.

Nvm the fact we were relatively healthy last season and it didn’t matter at all
In January
Luck with injuries is not the only luck you need. You also need good coaches and good players. The Cowboys were weak up the middle last year. They worked on addressing it in the offseason with the draft, Kendricks And a new DC.

That is kind of the point. Sam Williams in a vacuum is not a great player. But with how thin we are up front, unfortunately, we counted on Sam Williams a lot. This happens year after year. Razor thin depth and no room for error (i.e. injuries). And we are only a few days into camp. More injuries will come before the season starts. What sets teams apart is how they manage their roster to absorb losses.

Well, you drafted him in the second round, presumedly he has the skills to be a very good (at least) player. A lot of what makes a good to great pass rusher is physical skills - quickness, speed, bendability, along with the football smarts to read plays, etc. Experience is great, but not what's most important.

Put the kid in and let 'er rip!
On the contrary, Experience is getting the opportunity. Without an opportunity, It's not happening. I think this is huge for Kneeland.

They have to add to the DE room now. Depth is razor thin.
