Horrible news for both Sam Williams and our defense. Sam had been working out hard on his own throughout the offseason. I bet he was fired up to make a name for himself this year both on defense and as a special teams captain. This sucks big time.

I pray his ACL surgery goes well and he comes back close to full health a year from now. Definitely going to need Sam Williams next year in case DeMarcus Lawrence doesn't come back.

File it away. Sam with a year without football to keep him occupied is a bad mix.
:hammer:

I predict dude's career is over. Don't see how a young man with so many immaturity and off-field issues already will have the discipline and character to come back from this. Took out Gallup. Almost mentally crushed Pollard and Steele. Hope I'm wrong, but don't see good things for young Sam.

So much for Parsons playing LB.

If the Cowboys are short on pass rushers, then the temptation is going to be too great not to use one of the best in the league.
Parsons wasn't going to play LB exclusively, he'll maybe play DE a bit more than he would had SW not gone down, but like you said, Parsons is one of the best rushers in the league, no way Dallas was going to put him mostly at LB.

Imo, of course!

So an opportunity opens for Kneeland to step up.
Well, you drafted him in the second round, presumedly he has the skills to be a very good (at least) player. A lot of what makes a good to great pass rusher is physical skills - quickness, speed, bendability, along with the football smarts to read plays, etc. Experience is great, but not what's most important.

Put the kid in and let 'er rip!

Lets have a tiny bit of balance. If Cap Boy had cleared the Cap, wouldnt we be in an even worse position than we already are?
I don't know man. You've got teams like Philly who have supposedly more than 350 million in void years cap spent.

The question is will it catch up to them or will they find a way to real it back in as the cap increases?

Either way if it nets a couple superbowls it's worth a rebuild right?

I'd not enjoy it, but if it gets us another SB win, so be it.

Problem is, Jerry will still be (barring health issues) the gm after that season or 3, so whether they have those seasons or not, the end result will be the same...
I have lost all ideas of a jerruh led franchise getting to another SB. I have lowered my expectations to just being relevant and enjoying the 12 win seasons and playoff berths. Jerruh knows how to tear a team down, but he can't build it back to a SB team.
I'll just accept the play off level team and be thankful.
Beats being a vikings or bears fan like many of my SW. IA. neighbors are. ;)

Not to be hyperbolic but this is likely the beginning of the end for SW in Dallas.

Next year he comes back to a contract year. If he plays really well there's a good chance he wants more than we will pay based on 1 year. If he sucks, he's gone either way.

The only way we keep him imo, is if he's good but not great and the market isn't there so he signs a prove it deal.

I miss Armstrong already...

Double team Parson's and the QB can be eating pudding back there waiting for wide receivers to get open. Hard to need more talent and have no money available according to management.

Another wasted second rounder. I don't know why he takes players like this in the second but he loves it. That, tight ends, Or crippled linebackers
