At noon today the local show had Brian Broaddus on, he said something that seems a bit odd regarding Cowboy practices, stating that Romo gets 3-4 snaps with the 1st team offense against 1st team defense out of every 8 snaps. Why? Is Broaddus creditable?

Oh dear, the paranoia of Dak Lovers runs deep!

Romo is not the backup. He's the starter who is simply biding his time before making a grand entrance.
Romo was the starter before his injury, but he isn't the start anymore here. But he isn't the traditional backup QB that some nuts in our fanbase are trying to make him out to be. He is a ProBowl QB who holds virtually every passing record in franchise history and the #3 all time passer rating in league history who has never had a losing season. Not sure how this man gets as much hate as he does.

It's called a contingency plan, being ready if needed. The Cowboys are in a unique spot and, whether it's injury or a rookie being overwhelmed or whatever, the Cowboys have a backup QB that can step in and win. Giving extra snaps to a third tier backup doesn't really help a team, they're gonna lose if he goes in regardless, but if your backup is Romo then having him ready is added insurance,,, something none of these other teams have.

As far as I know Romo's been getting regular 1st team snaps since he's been healthy. This was reported weeks ago. And it does not take away from Dak's snaps at all. These are "extra" snaps. That's how it was explained previously. Generally speaking this is unusual, as Romo is the backup, but obviously our QB situation is different than most teams'.

Not a bad idea to make GB prepare for 2 qbs anyhow. I think its for the defense as well as Romo. Doubt Romo see the field come Sunday.

Romo is the backup.

He scheduled a press conference to announce it yourself. You must've missed it.

Perhaps you thought he was using reverse psychology?

Pretty much. And really what use to Romo is practicing vs the 2nd string at this point

I don't recall him referring to himself as the backup, maybe you missed it? He said Dak deserves to be the starter. Which is true...until he doesn't.

And Dak is the starter.

So...I don't know how you think that makes Romo the starter

If you're not the starter, you are the backup. So Romo is the backup...until he isn't.

Two other points when Chancellor ask was it in preparation for Green Bay, he responded that it has been going since Romo returned. He also says Romo competitively tries to beat the defense every snap, calls out coverages and such.
Welll this means it is to help the defense get better, it also keeps tony in the groove.

This could be one reason why the defense , secondary has played so good at end of season.

half the snaps, seems a bit too much, if that is accurate.
