if they did it in the portion open to the press, they probably want the packers to spend time preparing for Romo

Why would this even be an issue? Good let him get snaps. If Dak struggles which is highly on unlikely they won't be afraid to go to Romo. That isn't a bad thing, it is about the team after all. Just read about the Team Creed and you'd understand.

it only is because he is a Cowboys QB and the media wants controversy regarding us

Oh boy looking for a story... It's a great situation because Romo needs to keep sharp.

I would say Romo is a lot more like Rodgers with how he moves in the pocket. Once out of the pocket, however, Dak is a closer resemblance. Romo has the quick shifty moves, Dak can run for more yards when he gets going though.

This doesn't quite sound like the same story that has been reported previously. Those reports said there were some extra snaps at the end. Not a lot, but some. This sounds like 30-50% of the snaps. That's a lot more than a few "bonus" snaps, if true.

Also, to help the defense, Romo would be doing his scout team snaps, not taking #1 snaps.
Yeah I think you guys are right. You and @DFWJC. I see what you guys are saying about the little movements and nuances in the pocket that both Romo and Rodgers share.

At noon today the local show had Brian Broaddus on, he said something that seems a bit odd regarding Cowboy practices, stating that Romo gets 3-4 snaps with the 1st team offense against 1st team defense out of every 8 snaps. Why? Is Broaddus creditable?

Nope. Only way Romo sees the field is if Dak gets injured. This organization would be a joke if they pull a QB who led his team to a 13-3, 1 overall seed and then pull him if he struggles in his playoff game for a guy who played a handful of plays in a meaningless game this season. This is Dak's team, not Romo's.

This is to get this defense looks against a QB similar to Rodgers.

I thought this has been going on since Romo became fully recovered back in November?

This was reported as soon as he was cleared and did the presser thingy. I mean, this isn't even remotely new news.

It's always been reported that they adjusted their practice schedule so Romo could get reps with the 1s

the high quantity of tony vs. dak reps is the "odd" part here. Its never been reported or even hinted at prior that tony is getting 1/3 of first team snaps.

even i find that number high.

Keep in mind this is a limited portion of the practice that the media gets to see.
The real stuff is off limits to them.

This is an unusual QB situation for a playoff team. Hopefully it proves to be a bonus rather than a hindrance.

I find it hard to believe the starting QB isn't getting the vast majority of the reps.

I'm guessing it's different in the closed part of practice.

Imo, it really doesn't matter how much was previously reported or how much is reported now. Normally backups dontget ANY 1st team snaps. And from what I understand, his reps dont take anything away from Dak's reps.

This is all a non-story.

I would imagine it is as much for the defense as it is for Romo. I've been saying for awhile that despite having a scout team, you'd be crazy not to play 1's against 1's every now and then to create a real game-like speed that a scout team (practice squad/2nd & 3rd stringers) may struggle to duplicate.

Thankfully you don't run the team

Yeah I heard what broaddus said on the radio. Said that Romo is playing chess with the scout team and killing it. Making line shifts, adjusting and changing receivers routes etc.

Dak seems to play at his best when he feels like he is in a competition for his job.

When everyone was whispering that Romo time may be approaching after the Giants game, he turned out the best performances of his career. When Romo came back from injury, we also saw a nice stretch from Dak.

Coaches might not even be thinking that way but it's not a bad thing to give Dak something else to have a chip on his shoulder about.
