If we had traded a 5th for Holmes instead of the Jets, these same people would be screaming at Jerry for adding a trouble maker to the roster.

I still can't believe the Superbowl MVP from 2 seasons ago, who also had a fantastic year last season, was traded for merely a fifth round pick...Incedible!

I know we are cleaning house from our T.O., Tank, and Pacman hangovers, but come on...We could'bve landed Santonio Holmes with a fourth round pick!

We could've dumped Roy since it's a cappless year and gone with Miles as the #1 and Santonio as the #2...This would have set us up beautifully both on the field, and contractually heading forward.

He may have had a few minor issues off the field, but he was never a distraction to the team or anything like the players we've dealt with recently. Geez, what a DUI and a "wake & bake" will do to a guy's reputation!

Try telling that to someone who has lost someone thanks to a drunk driver.

He got one?

I have absolutly no respect for those people. None.

I don't know if Santonio Holmes had a DUI, but 7footer just classified a DUI as a "minor issue off the field." That is my point.

That wasn't meant to be the point...What I meant to say was like many other athletes who are currently playing in the NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLB; Holmes had a few mistakes off of the field. However, he has never been a major distraction to his team or his fellow teammates, and has always played to a very high level. So my point was, regardless of his stellar play and his Superbowl MVP, he was seemingly shipped off for basically second-string compensation due to unrelated incidents. This was not meant to be a commentary on the seriousness, or lack thereof, of drunk driving.

One more time to clarify further...His "DUI" was for Marijuana, not alcohol....He was only charged with the possession when he was pulled over, not for being impaired.

Finally, we agree on something.

It really does not matter.

Thats exactly right. Even if he doesn't work out. It's a 5th rounder. Who cares. That hardly sets you back.

Now a first and 3rd.....lol

I'd like to now how did trading those picks set the Cowboys' back ? Especially since they had two 3rd round picks in that same draft.

can't wait to hear this excuse.

This is nothing but the Steelers telling their players that they won't tolerate the players getting into trouble with the law... they couldn't do it with Ben, so instead they dropped the hammer on Holmes...

Yeah real big deal. I'm sure the players are shivering in their boots at the prospect of *gasp* going to another team and getting paid the same, if not more!

Put down that weed son, we might ship you to NY!

only a fool can get upset by others bringing up the roy trade after seeing yet a another deal like this

fact is detroit owned us. they made us look like fools while other teams got much better quality wr for less then half of what we paid

great trade by the jets. their making some serious moves towards a sb run

Never set us back. We are lucky that we've been drafting well and hit on some good fa's.

But those kinds of deals can easily set a franchise back.

This I can agree with, perhaps as soon as after this season. Judging the RW trade after 1 1/2 seasons is not wise.

Last year, at this point, I was in the " let's see what happens after a full off season, training camp, pre-season, and regular season workouts camp " very confident that he was going to prove his critics wrong.

This year, I'm in the " We'll see ". I'm not going to completely dismiss him, but the excuses have ran out. It's time to show up.

Until someone in your own family is killed by someone driving a vehicle under the influence. Then it becomes pretty major.
