He just had a really solid season in the games he played and we just used a first round pick
And now we wait....last year was our year to win it all and our OL was front central for why we failed. To look into things now is fine and all, but this should have started a few years ago

Exactly back tightness is NOT an injury. Every man over 30 has woke up with a stiff back. It goes away in a day or two and you're good as new. 100% nothingburger.

Again you deny the obvious. Seems to be a regular thing for you.

I get the snark but y’all are really overacting at this point in the off-season.

How are we over reacting? Smith has been resting the entire offseason, its just OTA's, not even pads on and he is already having back problems again?

If resting his back gives him problems, then how is it going to respond when the pads come on and games start?

Should have been a post June 1 cut and saved 12 million

I agree. This is where the Cowboys should have been more aggressive in FA. Cut smith and take his money and sign a FA tackle this offseason. Too late now. Zeke and Smith will be gone after this season I am hoping.

He wasn’t dominant, he struggled at times due to ailments. He gets beat occasionally and gets holding calls. He’s still a real good player but not the player he was.

When Smith came back from injury he was not dominant.

He was dominate last year when he was on the field
He was not dominant at any time last year. He was serviceable in the games he played. In every game he looked to be one tweek away from the IR.

I have no issue with going slow with smith. I fully expect him to miss games just like before but since the cowboys are too stupid to get his replacement might as well moderate his reps in camp

Because every single top LT missing time each year, except only Smith is somehow done with his career?

Trent Williams, Tunsil, David Bakhtiari, Ronnie Stanley (top 4 paid LTs) are all not at OTAs.

This isn't some 25 year old kid in his prime. This is a broken down guy who has played 11 seasons, but only played in 144 games. He hasn't played 16 games since 2015.

Second highest ranked LT by PFF
In 738 snaps he gave up 2 sacks
That’s pretty dominate

He would have played all 17 games last year were it not for .. ahem.. you know.. ahem... that running back who shall not be named getting knocked into his ankle!

If he misses 7-8 games people do realize that could be the difference in PO and no PO, let don’t act like we perform great and not skip a beat when he is out.

Tyron Smith has missed 32 games over the past 6 seasons -- more than 5 games a season or almost 1/3rd per season.

He has missed 20 games out of 33 games the past 2 seasons -- Roughly 2/3rd of the games.

Your fooling yourself if you think this is trending in the right direction.

I hear you. But he has not played a full season since 2015 and has missed 32 games in the last 6 seasons. So there’s that.
Verily. But the key is to have a viable backup plan for when he inevitably misses games. And that plan shouldn’t include shifting the rest of the line around impacting cohesiveness.
