Saturday Game Thread

I see why the ref called PI on Jones, He put his hand on the receiver's shoulder as if to use it as leverage when he leaped for the ball. The problem again, is not whether it is PI or not, it is the inconsistency in the refs calling it PI or not. If a WR did exactly the same thing to the DB, it would not be called offensive PI. Probably 90% of the time that PI call would not be made anyway. We have all seen much more contact not called. I thought it was a good play by Jones.

But to remove the inconsistency, they would have to change the rule so that any contact by either player is PI. That might get ridiculous, but otherwise it is a judgement on the part of the ref is if the contact was significant enough or not. That leads to inconsistency in the calls. The same ref may not call that same play a penalty next week.

Before the season, sure. But even before his injury Burrow overtook the #1 spot.

Hes still young and miami needs more weapons but he's too hesitant out there. Can't crack 100 yards in 3 games iirc
I'm talking about 2 years ago.....I could be wrong but it seemed like Herbert and Tua were considered the top prospects and then Burrow took the lead during the college season.

Am I the only one who thinks Chuckie made the wrong call on kicking the FG at the end? On third down I would have gone for the TD after milking as much time off the clock as possible. With no time outs, I would have made Miami have to score a TD to beat me. I know, the FG should have won the game and LV played horrible defense on that Miami FG drive. But it seems to me getting the TD and then going for the 2 point conversion was the best strategy. If they make it, then Miami needs a TD with no time outs just to tie the game. Kicking the FG, eliminates 30 yards of the field for Miami on their next drive. I realize it should not have mattered. No facemask penalty and LV wins the game, but I think getting the TD eliminates all those possibilities. I hate going for FGs as a strategy. It reminds me too much of The Clapper.

I dont' know why with Fitzpatrick they didnt' just sit Tua. This should've been his red shirt year or maybe work him in slow and have him play a Taysom Hill role like you suggested. I get why bad teams do it but Dolphins have a solid record. You don't have to force this with Tua.
sometimes when you ick a player with the name and hype of Tua at 5 you feel pressured to see what hes got , maybe hes Mahomes or maybe at worst a Dak like Rookie.. they now see maybe Fitz should start the rest of the way and Tua sprinkled in to get live training..

to me coaches and owners felt little pressure and curiusoty put tua out bit too early..

I was watching that first half going what the heck are you waiting for, they nearly gave playoff spot to LV, they came to their senses..better late then never LOL

Yea Burrow was a surprise for sure. Went from an udfa level QB to #1. Herbert and Tua were up there. Herbert iirc was a weak #1 qb option his junior year and he decided to stay for his senior year. It was Tua at #1 for the 2020 draft in the 2019 offseason. And then Burrow surprises and Tua got injured again.

That's exactly how I remembered it. I'm not a big college fan so yeah I didn't realize how low on the totem pole Burrow was.....wow.

I mean rightfully so. TUA before the injury was suppose to be the best QB in this draft.

Tua looked good at Alabama because the team was stacked with talent. Tua did not have to read defenses. He had a strong running game. Usually his first read was open. If not, he would either check it down or bail out of the pocket and run.

He is afraid to run as much after the injury. He also looks like he put weight on and does not have the mobility and speed he used to have.

Just glad Tua is not a Cowboy. Good luck Miami trying to fit that square peg into a round hole.

I heard early on in the season the Dolphins had to play Tua to see what they had. They had to get some data to see if they needed to draft a QB again this year. Pretty obvious they will be drafting QB high. Might even try trading Tua like AZ and Rosen.

The way yall go so far out your way to jock an average player
Majority of fans and media members are calling that penalty soft. There's nothing controversial or jocking about calling that play soft lets get real here (soft calls on defense has literally been a major compliant now for over a decade)

Jock? No.

Didn’t even realize it was Byron until after the play.
I literally could not even tell you who Byron was playing for up until that play but hey let Hennessy have his fake agenda/narative so he can sound cool and edgy

That’s what kills me. They will defend everyone else to the core....but will dog Dak out lol.
I love how making note of a common fan issue (NFL getting soft on defensive backs) somehow turned into a Dak prescott topic

It was the right call. Byron made it easy for the ref to call it

I had to laugh last night.....This wasn't IP to some people.....
