I remember the upside down star in '79. Never looked right from the home viewer's perspective.

That's crazy. That was the first year I started rooting for the cowboys....that shot makes me feel old as hell.

another Texas Stadium quirk....

everybody thinks beer and watching football go hand in hand.....
alchohol was not allowed to be sold at TS by the city of Irving until
after JJ bought the team.
I think it was 1993 when they finally voted to allow it.

maybe thats why fans at Texas Stadium have a reputation ( not deserved)
of not being loud.

does anybody know of any other NFL stadiums that didnt allow the sale of beer ??

Drinking beer goes hand in hand with everything. ('cept driving)

Carry on.

haha im old enough to remember when folks here in Texas ( and maybe other places ) used to measure trips by how many beers it would take to get there.
not that i ever did anything like that.

It wasn't just Texas....and it wasn't all that long ago. I remember how everyone used to drink while driving when I was a kid.

Thankfully, with the sheer number of cars on the road....not very many people continue this sort of behavior. Seems innocent enough to reminisce about it, but think of what it would be like if it were still that way.....yikes.

strolling down Texas Stadium memory lane i was thinking about the
LOUDEST games lately.

to me the Indy game where they were undefeated and this years Philly
game are the loudest i remember.

The Philly game would get my vote for loudest ever. my ears actually rang
for 2 full days after that game and i am not kidding.

When Emmitt broke the record it got loud, it didnt stay loud for long though.

Anybody remember any games that might have been louder ? maybe last years playoff loss to NY ??

*remembers fondly*

That game gave me the worst headache I've ever had. My ears and throat hurt for days....and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I couldn't have asked for a better first, and last, game at Texas Stadium. She treated me well.

No, unfortunately they had the tarp out to protect the field for the game. We did get to walk around on the field though. I'm thinking about going back monday so I can do the star thing.

Here's another Texas Stadium memory...remember when the fans used to be able to drape their home made signs made out of bed sheets over the railing?

I always liked it, despite how sloppy some thought it looked. To me it was just part of the old Texas Stadium. I always loved reading the signs when we played on MNF.

i love going to TS for a lot of reasons but i always really enjoy
seeing the fans. some wild ones, some not so wild.
i have met people from new zealand, new york, new mexico, old mexico.
one thing we all had in common was our love of the Boys.
i listen to their stories about how much it cost them to get there, motels,
tickets, time off work, driving all day and sometimes all night.
it makes me appreciate living here and being around it all the time.
here are a few of them.....

i have hundreds of these........just wanted to share a few. would love to see what everybody else has.
from the face painters to the funny hat wearers....painted nail ladies and little girls with bows and blue ribbon...casual fans and the ones who wouldnt let a broken bone keep them from going....i enjoy these people !!

i am looking forward to the new stadium but i sure hope the same kind of folks keep coming....and im sure they will.

he was tickled to hear that.
his son had bought it for him and he was proud of that.

What series jersey is that? That looks comfortable.

Gridiron Classics by Reebok.

On the bottom left front of the jersey there are two patches. The top one has the NFL logo and to the right says Throwbacks Vintage Jerseys.

Below that it says Bob Lilly Dallas Cowboys: 1961-1974.

It is very comfortable.
