First thing I thought of considering their rocky past.
This does not apply to everyone however, somewhere I read that newlyweds (with no children between them) who are in the market for their first house should buy the size of their family, where they can easily hear each other from one end of the house to the other. Just sayin.
Good luck this year Oscan!! I wish them all the best.
It's a five bedroom house. They have four children together. Hardly extravagant. Aaron Glenn has a similarly sized house in Houston.
Wasn't he on one of those House Hunter shows in the past? Anyways, nice house. LA is super expensive so the price is not bad for a 6,300 square foot home.
It was a Selling: LA type show featuring high-end realtors. Anyway, that's the home he's selling. Needed a bigger place.

spotrac has his earning to date at $22 million

So he's seen about $14 million of that after taxes. Probably spent a good portion of that, too, hanging out in Draya's world.

Houses aren't the problem so long as you don't overpay for them or destroy them. They can be re-sold, especially there.

After going through the pics the only thing I didn't like in the house was the kitchen. If Draya has any kind of domestic skills, she's gonna gut that kitchen.
He's not with Draya for her domestic skills.

You are right, I was missing the restructure bonuses. He will also have more from endorsements, speaking fees, etc. So what he paid for this house is a small percentage of his net worth.

But if he invested 10 MM of that 14MM and is getting any decent return, he is getting a least a half million a year from his investments. Even living it up (and I'm sure he is) he probably isn't spending the return on his investment portfolio.

I'm betting he didn't. They almost never do.

And it's easy to spend $1 million in California, especially with his tastes in cars and whatnot.

I'm cool with the girlfriend, JUST DON'T GET MARRIED. Getting married is the lowest form of intelligence when you're famous.

I think Scandrick is a lot smarter than you are giving him credit for.

For a blended family of six, three of them girls? Not necessarily.

We will agree to disagree. It's too many, by far.

It's not even remotely necessary and this is one of the big reasons these guys wind up broke. Spending stupid amounts of money on stuff that is not needed.

It's flashy and showing off and it's dumb.

Spending 10% of your net worth on a house is stupid? If he has any decent financial adviser and has invested even half of his career earning, the interest on his portfolio will more than pay the payments on this house.

It's a five bedroom house, though, for a family of six. That's about as modest as you can get in any price range. I would guess two of those bathrooms are for when you come from the pool and then there might be a half bath somewhere. Either way, I'm not gonna trip on the number of bathrooms. I think the house is a good size and price for the area.

It's not like he blew 2+ million in Vegas over a weekend, it is a darn investment. Jealousy is running rampant around here today

This same house is around 600k in Texas and then no one blinks an eye........

For all the handwringing about Scandricks post-career finances, everything I've read is that he's pretty sensible with his finances. The home he's selling is pretty modest. But carry-on with the stereotypes about flashy cars and spendthrift, tho we've never heard or seen anything to allude to those things. lol

I don't care enough to debate the girlfriend, but aside from their occasional drama, she's trying to move on from her past and grow like a good adult should.

So I'm all for wishing folks the best in their life endeavors.

Yep, was thinking same kitchen is kinda small and no stainless appliances? ;)

Yeah, my kitchen looks to be about the same size and we have the stainless stuff. :)

Just bought our first new (as in just built) house. We're pretty stoked.

Oscan makes 3.8 mil per year on average. A 2 mil home shouldn't hurt him if he doesn't blow his money on worthless junk.

I love the kid, he is our best CB. But how many times have you seen this in the NFL, and the next thing you know, the guy is selling his homes, cars and diamonds to settle his bankruptcy? As they say when playing dice, he is betting on the come.

Not the way this one was laid out. Just yuck.
I didn't even look. Yet when I heard island(s), my wife popped into my head. Next house must have one once the pending sale of the house in PA goes through. Fingers crossed on both!

Everybody that has something negative to say about how this man spends the money HE (not any of you) earns are a bunch of jealous haters...simple...praying for that man's downfall...you all should be ashamed...but we already know you are not...bunch of fakes speaking on this man and what he purchases...

I wouldn't say they're haters. They're just being realistic. Statistics show that many millionaire athletes go broke after they retire from sports. We've all heard the stories.

Having said that, Oscan might be one of the successful ones - one who bucks the trend and based on wise investments will be able to afford such a house as well as the annual maintenance and taxes it takes to stay in such a dwelling.

More power to him. It's not my money. But I can't say I'm not skeptical.
