Like I said in a prior thread about Rolle, I dont often get too excited about FA's. In the long run I dont feel it's the way to build a team but when you have a player of Rolles age, ability and skill set and combine it with the Cowboys need and loooong time weakness I cant help but feel Dallas just cant miss on this one.

At 27 he could hold down the position for another 3 years.

Why not let Sensy go and put Michael in at SS.

23 and 27 year old safetys.

Ya, of course get a safety in this years draft but we could afford to get a "sexy pick" like McCluster in the 2nd.

Yeah, no one is saying we cant still draft a Safety but it no longer would be the Elephant in the room you have to address.

lol, but why? We think he's worth it, but the Cards don't.

It's a legitimate question.

It's pretty much the same conclusion behind giving Hamlin all that cash in the 1st place. We are so starved for competent FS play, in this instance, one who can make plays, as opposed to just someone who doesn't give up the deep ball. That we are willing to give the moon for it.

Could be. They let Bigg go, hasn't been too terrible for Dallas.

One man's trash is another man's treasure. Keith Brooking was seen as too old and slow but I don't think anyone would question what he brought to the team.

Or they just don't want to pay Rolle a lot of money for good, sometimes very good production.

Maybe they think Rashad Johnson could do the same job at a cheaper price?

No one really knows why, but it's a gift to the rest of the NFL>

You shut your face Bob.

Let those of us with visions of an INT from the safety position dream for a minute.

Sorry but I do not see where he is a great upgrade. And once again I ask can Rolle be the QB of our Secondary like Hamlin has been?

I heard that Hamlin lines up so deep that nobody can hear him make the calls anyways.

Last 3 seasons:

Rolle - 184 TKL, 10 INT, 23 PD

Hamlin - 138 TKL, 6 INT, 19 PD

didn't Hamlin miss several games during this span? Maybe Rolle did too.

Tackles do not mean as much.

I just am not sure about footing the bill for a FA like that who has NOT established himself as a true playmaker.

Ken Hamlin feels the same way.

An athletic free safety with corner-like coverage skills?

Yes please!

Think about if Jerry signs Rolle he can basically go on vacation until the Draft. I mean, after he cuts Ken Hamlin.

That is the one move I feel that improves our team and lets us solely focus on depth/future needs in the draft.

Well Ken is bye bye. Thank god.

It opens up so many possibilties in the draft.

They're letting him go because the escalators from his rookie contract mean he'll be owed 12 million dollars for this year and he definitely is not worth that.

He also doesn't want to renegotiate his contract because he's getting the uncommon chance of going into FA in his prime and in an uncapped year.

The Cards have been trying to negotiate with his agent for a new deal and have pretty much said they'll be in the market to keep him once he reaches FA.
