If I'm him it's the Texans or no one. Hell they almost beat the Pats with a garbage qb. Plus getting Watt back

They would be a good fit but Denver would be a good fit as well but he's never been a great cold weather QB. As for Houston getting Watt back, with two back surgeries his best days could be behind him. The most important thing for Romo to have success is his OL and offensive weapons. He can't be put in a position where he has to be the savior or carry the team.

Guess we'll see in the next days to weeks.
Been saying all along that this scenario wouldn't totally surprise me.
But ideally they find middle ground where we get something and he plays somewhere decent.

fwiw, Every other team message board I've read has the vast majority of fans assuming he won't make through half a season or less. They, on average, will be pretty furious if they acquire Tony. Anyone interested, just go out there and see what's being said on Broncos or Texans (or even far-fetched Washington) message boards.
I actually think he could have a couple of very good years left in him.

That's still stupid and you could possibly trade him in a 3 team deal and possibly end up with the 2nd pick and other draft choices and possibly end up with Myles Garrett and Adoree Jackson in the first round. I pray to god that they don't do this.
This would never happen.

Eh, were some bad first half calls from being in the NFC champ game
Yeah, that's true. But nothing about that game showed me we were ready for a Super Bowl win. Our defense would not have been able to handle the Pats or Falcons. Imo

I would keep him if I can't trade him.
I don't care what tony wants in any way shape or form.

When a mediot talks to a team he says "the team" told him such and such. For example, "Denver will pay Romo $10-$12m"

When the source is not named then it is someone else most likely an agent. I don't really care what an agent says he expects the team to do in a negotiation.

In this case the agent is saying that the team is going to do what is his best case scenario. A release means he can negotiate a new deal which means he makes new money.

It has been interesting how everyone but the Cowboys is negotiating this through the press.

I think you should make a bet with the board. If Romo is released or traded, you should have to stop posting forever.
Agreed. I've been bringing this for a while now. The savings from a June 1st cut are arguably more valuable than a trade for a likely worthless low draft pick, due to being able to spread out the cap hit over 2 seasons.
This is what I think is best unless we get a 3-4 round pick, the cap savings makes the most sense

People posting like this are misreading the situation, I think.

The Cowboys don't want to start him over Dak, and the Cowboys don't want him on the salary cap books. That leaves the Cowboys with the only options of trading or releasing him.

And Romo basically agrees with them. He's fine with being released. And he's fine with being traded, with the only caveat (we assume) that he doesn't want to go to a garbage team.

The Cowboys and Romo's wants only come into conflict if the Cowboys try to force a trade to a garbage team. But that's entirely hypothetical - we have no evidence that Dallas is trying to send Romo to football Siberia. And in any other scenario Romo's wants don't conflict with the Cowboys wants at all.

I've mentioned this before, but besides NFC rivals I think Houston is the AFC team Jerry least wants Romo to go to.
That is a hunch based on his marketing savvy. There is no benefit at all to the Cowboys if Houston somehow wins (or gets to) a Super Bowl before Dallas gets to their next one.

It think it's a better fit for Tony but not for Jerry. Who knows, maybe an offer would change his mind.

I don't agree with most of that. That year the club had no viable QB alternative and the defense was pretty damn good last year. All they need is someone to get after the passer (Even with very little pass rushing attack the defense was very competitive last season).

Having said all that, the team does now have a QB in place and needs to do whatever they have to to ensure a decent pass rush. If that means trading the old QB then they should do it. Try to put Romo in a good situation if possible, but when it's all said and done this is about taking care of an entire team and fanbase, not just one guy.

If Dak " Bombs" this year, will fans still think he's the undisputed number one? I personally think he is the real deal...even if he " struggles" in his sophomore year.
