Not surprised in the least. You don’t see coaches being fired after 3 straight 12-5 playoff seasons. However, next year will very likely be the end of the line for McCarthy with his contract coming to an end if the Cowboys don’t make the playoffs or advance in them.
And by then there will be no good coaches available, which actually works for Jerry. Should be plenty of Yes Men out there to lock up for the next 5 years or so.

McCarthy has coached this team to 3 straight 12 wins seasons

Let's be honest, Barry switzer could have coached this team to 3 straight 12 win seasons.

But when you get to the playoffs, preparation means more than talent. And what we saw Sunday was a whole team, all 53 (or 52 not counting Ferguson), not showing up with preparation or desire to play. That's on the head coach.

We've seen it for 3 years straight on the offensive side of the ball. The offense has done absolutely jack crap in the first half of every game minus the Tampa game.

The defense was as bad Sunday as any I've ever seen this team field in the playoffs. But they at least held their own the two prior years when they lost to San Fran.

The offense has been a joke in 3 of the last 4 playoff games. But Jerry has decided to bring back the offensive minded head coach and the QB of that offense once again.

And let's not forget this team has been at the top of the league in penalties during McCarthy's tenure as well.

But in Jerrys eyes, as long as we are competing for the division title every year why change?

I usually seem to agree with you exactly. But I gotta say, Quinn's defense never showed up in multiple games. He's gotta go. I wish MM was gone too, but he's here. Unfortunately.
I am not defending Quinn. But essentially making him the scapegoat for this season is typical BS from Jerry and the Cowboys homers. The offense was anywhere from mediocre to terrible in many of our biggest games this year.

That restructure basically get us to break even.

And they have Parsons and Lamb to deal with.

They are going to have minimal cap space to play with in FA and they certainly aren't going to pour most of it into a TB. Have some of you just slept through the last decade of FA for the Cowboys?
My opinion isn't based on "big money". I don't even know what the salary cap is. I just feel they restructure guys to get money. I don't think Barkley would be big money most RB's aren't. If he is then yes I don't expect us to look at him.

They are going to extend Dak. Get ready for it and it will create cap room. That's all but confirmed bringing McCarthy. They will use that money to sign Barkley.
In 2016 we lost to that Packers team limped into the playoffs and we're the 6th seed with a beat up secondary.
They were playing 2 practice squad corners I remember because troy Aikman almost had a seizure because we didn't take advantage.

We had prime Zeke in that game, no running back today can hold his jockstrap.

Why did we lose?

My point is... It's always something...
A RB...
A linebacker...
Always one player "away"

I mean it wasn't even the Packers game. The offense was largely inept against the 49ers and the Bills too. And even then, people wanted to just blame Quinn and the defense.

Some in this fanbase will never, ever learn. They've put their faith in Jerry despite the fact Jerry has done jack squat to have earned that faith in 27 years.
I hope they're ready for it. Because we play more of those type of teams next season including two of the teams that treating us like children. Then we add Baltimore, Houston, and Detroit. Three teams that have much better coaches and quarterbacks than us.

You've heard?

And then Jerry and his dopey son get the contract demands and they balk.

You do realize this team is pretty cap strapped right? And they have Parsons and Lamb to deal with as well. Anyone expecting anything but pure nickel and diming in FA hasn't paid attention for like 8-10 years.
Then draft a stud RB in the first few rounds. You can get some good ones there.

No surprise, nothing will change till Jerry is 6' under and maybe not even then because his son is an idiot as well

But didn't we have higher hopes for our defense? Cowboys sucking on offense against the Packers, Bills and San Fran? I can see it. Cowboys sucking on defense against Josh Dobbs and the Cardinals just threw me completely off. And Packers could've scored 70 if they wanted to. That was honeslty the worst defensive performance I have seen in 20 years. It was worse than Mike Nolan.

I knew this was happening as soon as that shill Jane Slater came out with the "players love Mike" reports
Funny how the players looked like they didn't give a rat's during a game with everything on the line, then perk up when they realize they might not get coddled next year. Not to worry, cupcakes...you are safe from consequences for another year.

Every team in playoffs: Tactically outcoaches us at every phase of the game

Jerry: Our best shot is to keep all our coaches.
