I don’t see why anyone would think there’s a good shot of a deal getting done.

Mike wants real money, and Jerry doesn’t want to pay it. Is there a middle? Tough to say when there’s interest from other teams.

I’d put it at about 40% he returns based on logic, but at 100% that the idiot twins screw it up one way or the other so it doesn’t much matter.

Mike doesn't deserve a pay raise. If he did, he probably wouldn't get one from our cheap owner anyway.

Hopefully Mike says he’s done with Jerry antics and leaves. But then it’ll be the same rhetoric with the new head coach because Jerry can’t stay out of anyone else business.
This refusal to allow the Bears to talk to Mike smacks of another of Jerry's 'child like' reaction to being spurned.
He doesn't want us, but I'll make it as awkward as I can as he leaves.

I hear what you’re saying.

But they are saying otherwise.

- Making McCarthy’s contract expire late so they can negotiate
- Denying Chicago a chance to interview
- Bringing in zero candidates to interview

I agree with Mike wanting real money and Jerry wanting to be cheap!!!!
So Jerry's leveraging out his position as he did in the Dak negotiation('s)?
Jeez, enough already.

The Bears have signaled they want to talk to McCarthy, and some media are reporting the Bears are very interesting in signing McCarthy. I am certain McCarthy is fully aware of his market. Why would he agree to any deal before hearing from the other interested teams. If Jerry low-balls Mike, and Chicago offers him a kings ransom and greater control, why would McCarthy stay for the circus act?
Yep, and I reckon he's told Jerry. Her comes the 60m per

This is classic Jerry.

He never shows any sense of urgency. He thinks the world revolves around him and when either they come to him for a deal or he can take his sweet time.

Given what a disaster the 2024 season was, you'd think this bag of hammers would have some initiative to try to really get this offseason off to a smart start. If you want McCarthy back, then sign him now. There is no reason to just drag this out.

But it's Jerry and at this point just assume he's going to screw something up. Because he typically does.

Based on this, if you expect a smart and shrewd and effective offseason, put it out of your minds. It's not going to happen.

Same crap with Garrett who was told he could no longer call the offense. If that happens, I will not have much interest or faith in another season. Jerry needs to realize what 90% of the fans do - time to change the GM and Front Office. That classic definition of insanity - doing the same thing over and over and expecting results. Men and their egos. Time to move on Jerry, I know you love the game and the franchise and unfortunately the spotlight but it just ain’t working dude. Unless you have another Parcells or Jimmy to steer the ship, we’re headed for more Playoff teases.
Definitely, not holding my breath on playoffs. For the next couple of years

Sure, they have this exclusive period but there’s no reason at all for Mike to panic. None of the openings are being filled before he is free to interview elsewhere….even more free than coordinators still in the playoffs.

Bears have leaked 12 names of people they want to interview.

If you want to see a franchise trying to grab headlines and “milk” their coaching search, look no further.

Ha, I’m sure that’s what Jerry is trying to say. Wants a discount just because….or thinks he deserves a refund for not winning when his fingerprints were all over the failure as well. This is a really, really odd situation…mostly because it’s never handled this way elsewhere.

Who else is Jerry going to hire? Who else is going to work here in a situation with a long list of negatives that don’t need repeating?

I just want to see Jerry screw it up and hit rock bottom so maybe there’s a shot at getting back to where things need to be….which is a couple of notches above “those 12 win seasons.” They weren’t good enough if anyone recalls, and things are now much worse. How is that getting fixed? One draft?

If I’m Mike, maybe I stay, but I’m no longer doing it cheap, or under the same circumstances. He HAS to know he can’t win this way. The self-proclaimed “winner” really ought to.

You do realize that exactly zero teams have signed a HC contract this off season, right?

So, this continued nonsense about publicity is just a fan invention. The Cowboys are actually releasing far less teases and leaks than any of the other teams with HC questions.
I also realize that everyone with a vacancy is getting in front of the candidates they like. Whether you sign one or not, good front offices use the interview process to pick the brain of smart football coaches. Waiting to re-sign a HC that you have 5 years experience with makes zero sense.

You either want him or not. He either wants to stay or not. If the parties can't come to terms, so be it. Get in front of your top candidates sooner than later.

I have a very good friend of mine who has connections to the Jets he says McCarthy is going to be going to be the head coach w Rodger’s.
I'll give you credit if this happens. I would be absolutely shocked though. It seems extremely unlikely.

McCarthy is coming back to Dallas- which is not nearly as bad as Dak's new deal. It's a consistent way of thinking though. (consistently bad)
