Then they didn't give him anything. They made him take Zeke when they could have signed Henry. The team still played hard for him.
I agree Jerry did him no favors last off season and that he did a really nice job keeping the team together and playing hard despite having a losing year.
My problem with him is how he performed with a healthy team when things went well. We've looked really rough in the playoffs under McCarthy. I also think it's ridiculous it took him half a season to make Rico the bell cow when camp reports had him as far and away our best back. That and we have made no progress on penalties.
Some of those gripes probably are organizational, but I think he had five years and we've seen how far he can get us. We could end up worse off, but I'd rather try than not.
Also, I'm not saying the job he did this year should get him fired. I'm only saying he didn't accomplish enough to be re-signed.
