Believes the Cowboys are very much in the QB hunt at 4 based on what he's heard and how Jones is acting. He said when Jones is this adamant about doing something, it's usually a smokescreen so when he tells people the Cowboys aren't taking a QB at 4, that means they are considering it. Cited some examples such as when Jones told the press he wasn't trading for Roy Williams and then a day later he traded for him.

Said a trade up wouldn't be out of the question either if they really, really liked Wentz.

Schefter is just guessing like the rest of us. If we trade high picks to move up 2 spots, then Stephen has been replaced in a bloodless coup by mad scientist Jerry.

This is exactly what I want

The team to do some conviction and go get their guy

The qb they are convinced is the guy of the future

I wouldn't want this at all. I don't see a guy worth giving up multiple high picks for.

If we move up to 1 or 2 then we are probably giving up our #1 next year. Which hopefully is the last pick in the first round, but I still wouldn't want to do it.

Whoever wants Wentz is going to have to trade up to #1 to get him. I cant see Tennessee moving down all the way to #8 where Philly is.

If the Titans get out of that pick it will be one spot down to Cleveland or to us at #4.

How so?

What if the scouts and the coaching staff, who saw Wentz up close for a week, all agree this kid has "it" and is worth the risk because he can be the next Romo/Big Ben for this franchise after Romo is gone? I could see Stephen agreeing on making that move if he truly believed Wentz was the best option for the long term future of this franchise.

where is the member who shops for groceries at the same market as the man whose girlfriend cuts the hair of the custodian at the Ranch who overheard JJ talking to his wife about the draft?

The only trade up that I can see happening is trading up from 34 back into the 1st for another player, like Josh Doctson.

Other than that, we aren't trading up from 4. Regardless of who is selected ahead of us, we will have some combination available at 4 of Ramsey/Goff/Wentz/Jack/Bosa/Buckner.

Those are good options to have with the 4th pick.

that's right.. if we got wentz and had to give up next years 1 to get him id be ok with that.. he will get to learn from Romo for a couple of years. and master the offense. if Romo goes down he will be ready. qb position will be set.

I would crap my pants if we gave up two #1 picks, one a premium, for a lower division QB whose team won championships without him....omg

Not at all, but we didn't find Tony with the #4 pick in the draft as a developmental player.

True but then again the hit rate for finding a Top 10 NFL QB in the UDFA pile is embarrassingly low.

Reality is the Cowboys pretty much got lucky that some kid who no one wanted to draft turned into an elite NFL QB. Thinking you can replicate that again (or even turn like a 4th round QB into an elite QB) would be beyond foolish.
