draft well doesn't mean draft perfectly. even with the warts and misses they're still in the upper levels of drafting over the past several years. it has been glaringly bad recently though.Yup. The "we draft well" narrative has been shot down and stomped on, but people keep repeating it. Taco, Jaylon, Mazi, Kelvin, Schooner, Trysten Hill, LVE, Connor Williams. All drafted in the 1st/2nd round since 2016, all busts. That's 8 drafts including 15 picks in rounds 1/2. (Not including 2024 draft, to be seen). 7 busts out of 15, and Diggs may be joining that list.
Our last four 2nd round picks:
Marshawn Kneeland - injured
Luke Schoonmaker - dog house
Sam Williams - injured/suspended
Kelvin Joseph - out of the league
O'Cyrus was available when we drafted Schoonmaker and Darnell Washington was available when we were on the clock in the 3rd round, who is a much better blocking TE.Wait. First, we draft tight ends in the second round like it is some sort of pre-requisite (Mad Genius). Now, we are drafting second round tight ends who are fragile in the head?
Well either Schoon was a really bad pick, or our coaches haven't coached him up to be effective. It seems like every other team in the NFL drafts a TE, and they turn into a player. We have failed miserably, and Ferguson has regressed this year. Somebody has to take the blame for this, right? The Zeke thing is just another failure in the entire organization not just coachesHow in the world do you put Zeke and Schoon in the same category? lol
A coach can be in charge of discipline, like when a player misses meetings, but you can't jut put someone in charge to ensure someone doesn't suck. lol Some players you can do as good a job coaching as possible and they will just never live up to what they were hoped to be. Schoon was a bad draft choice. The problem isn't how he has been treated once on the team.
Don't agree.draft well doesn't mean draft perfectly. even with the warts and misses they're still in the upper levels of drafting over the past several years. it has been glaringly bad recently though.
Our first two picks this year haven’t been very good so far.
Ding ding ding!our coaches haven't coached him up to be effective.
With the dead offseason we had I wanted to see more from this draft. The jury will be out for awhile with this draft class. If we’re not going to add quality veteran players we have to bank on our draft. I said prior to the season if this draft class doesn’t hit the ground running and our first two picks from last years draft class doesn’t show vast improvement we’re likely going to be in for a rough season.
Guyton was the 8th OT taken and had a 2nd round grade meaning he wasn't coming in polished. We knew that as soon as he was draft.
Kneeland was making plays and looking pretty good in his playing time before he got hurt.
To say they "haven’t been very good so far" is an overreaction unless your expectations were too high to begin with.
He was a bad pick. I said it on draft day and I’m still saying it. There’s a chance Schoon and Mazi might not be on the team next season.Well either Schoon was a really bad pick, or our coaches haven't coached him up to be effective.
At least 5 (or more) starters. Just a little over 6 months from the draft, this class is looking like it's a pretty good one. With the dead offseason we had I wanted to see more from this draft.
We left ourselves no choice but to start them with all the players we lost and virtually no activity in free agency. Guyton needs a lot of work and probably got pushed out there too soon. We’re dealing with growing pains with all these players. At least 5 (or more) starters. Just a little over 6 months from the draft, this class is looking like it's a pretty good one.

Being on the roster of a really bad team doesn't mean we hit it out the park on this year's draft. How many of these players would be on the roster of the Lions or the Ravens? At least 5 (or more) starters. Just a little over 6 months from the draft, this class is looking like it's a pretty good one.

it’s not an opinion to agree or disagree with though. there’s metrics, not feels.Don't agree.
