Jerry thinks he's outsmarting the rest of the league by using the pick on players he thinks have true 1st round value.
This right here drives me nuts about this FO.

McClay is certainly behind these decisions.

The best way to gain confidence is to get benched? LOL.

Go back to the Pittsburgh game when Schoonmaker pancaked TJ Watt, and I mean he bowled him over on a run play. Show him that play 15 times in a row and that will help him gain some confidence. He is not going to get it sitting on the bench. And what better time to put him out there than a lost season?
Exactly !!! Yes, I agree he's not a star or even a contributor at this point but get the guy on the field. He's still a good blocker. This coaching staff sucks. They really do. We have yet to have a game this year where our staff gave us a competitive advantage. I watch a ton of pro football and believe me, our staff sucks.

Kinda feel bad for the guy and I’ve never liked that pick. He can’t control where he gets drafted.

I don't see that at all. The catches he makes and his running after the catch are easily as strong as ever. He had some injury problems early on, and the overall offense (Dak & O-Line) has regressed, and that is the reason he has been a little less noticeable. He is actually averaging more yards per game than last year.
He also has taken on a LOT more inline blocking this year. Its not Fergy's fault that Steele is a turnstile

Is this MM trying to distract from losing? Waaay back...Dak and J. Lewis made comments about this team's professionalism. Now...all of a sudden...the whip is being cracked. What gives? Now... Jerry's kids are fair game? Is this coming from Jerry or the coach? I honestly used to give Jerry some credit for being some what hands off, but now...it's hard to tell who the coach is.

Was MM even informed/consulted about this trade?

This is the time to get guys on the field and see what they can do so they know who to keep in 2025 and who is expendable.

Zeke misses meetings and is late getting in...Schoon sucks. Whose job is it to ensure this doesn't happen? The person in charge should be shown the door, yet I am afraid he may sign an extension after this season is over

How in the world do you put Zeke and Schoon in the same category? lol

A coach can be in charge of discipline, like when a player misses meetings, but you can't jut put someone in charge to ensure someone doesn't suck. lol Some players you can do as good a job coaching as possible and they will just never live up to what they were hoped to be. Schoon was a bad draft choice. The problem isn't how he has been treated once on the team.

You seem a small bit upset over this.

Just kidding. Most of us are. Just trying to break up the tension. Carry on…

The worst part is having to listen to the “we draft well” narrative…even from people other than the usual suspects, who seem to be conspicuously absent around here lately.

The second and third rounds of late have killed this roster, and the refusal to use FA to compensate doesn’t help.

It sucks man, and badly. I’d much rather be talking football than trashing the FO, but I don’t see it changing any time soon. They think a lot of themselves despite the results, and anyone that questions that is threatened or laughed at.

It’s somewhere between tough and impossible to root for them to lose, but I really cannot see how change ever takes place otherwise.
Yup. The "we draft well" narrative has been shot down and stomped on, but people keep repeating it. Taco, Jaylon, Mazi, Kelvin, Schooner, Trysten Hill, LVE, Connor Williams. All drafted in the 1st/2nd round since 2016, all busts. That's 8 drafts including 15 picks in rounds 1/2. (Not including 2024 draft, to be seen). 7 busts out of 15, and Diggs may be joining that list.

It's amazing people think its a good a idea to trade our best players for draft picks. This team sucks a drafting.

While that is true, it's our only hope for the future. We are screwed for the next 3 seasons.

Schoonmaker is done. He won't make it on the final roster in 2025.

If Dalton Kincaid wasn't taken before the Mazi pick, I wonder if he would have been taken. Saving us from both Mazi and Schoonmaker

I don't see developing TE's as a real concern

Obviously the Chief's coaching is better than ours, or probably any other team, but Hendershot has only caught 1 pass this season and was only promoted from the practice squad after 2 other back up TE's for the Chiefs suffered season ending injuries. That doesn't exactly support the idea the Chiefs saw and unlocked something the Cowboys couldn't.

And frankly, while Schoonmaker has been a disappointment, Ferguson and Schultz, both 4th round picks that didn't have much impact as receivers in college, developed very nicely for the Cowboys.
yeah i don't get how hendershot catching a solitary pass is some indictment on dallas. there's plenty other valid criticisms
