They were together for 3 years in Seattle.

The running game was very good during those 3 seasons.
2018: 1st in total rushing yards
2019: 4th in total rushing yards.
2020: 7th in yards/carry

They did that with average RBs like Chris Carson.

The complaints about Schottenheimer were with regards to the passing game.
- In Dallas the passing game will be McCarthy's responsibility.
- Also, in retrospect, Russel Wilson might have been declining more than fans/media realized.

Just a guess but from what I gather:

1. McCarthy will call the plays

2. Less option routes meaning WRs will run the plays as designed an not read the defense

3. More run heavy (hopefully run heavy doesn’t mean painfully predictable)

This is why I think we’ll be drafting a running back high and a guard I hope

I haven’t seen anyone credible suggest run heavy and even if they have , I won’t believe it until I see it. MM doesn’t run the ball

Here's what I'm eagerly awaiting to see in Dallas:
A staff that solidifies the RB roster, top to bottom. Have practice squad RBs that can run hard a couple of games or more.
Stop running every 1st, seems like it's been a lot.
More motion & play-action, not so much shotgun, empty backfield.
If you have an aging RB like Zeke, don't wait until year 4 to let Pollard get more touches. Freaking idiots.
The no. 3 RB should stand out a little more.
Get the O line 5 starters and hopefully it's not musical chairs.

But to me, the run game is the weakest link. We weren't consistent all season. We shouldn't be one dimensional just because ONE playmaker went out.

R. Wilson was not declining in any of those seasons. The decline began in 21
Or maybe he was declining but it didn't become apparent until he left Seattle for a new system/team? Maybe it's not a coincidence that Russ started to stink while Geno Smith became a pro bowler in the same season?

he had A-rod and a bunch of underwhelming rbs. probably made the splits easier

We are basically reverting back to Garrett ball. There will be lots of gut runs and hitch routes.

I doubt this HC/OC marriage lasts more than one season.

I felt like we were more balanced this year than in previous years.

I felt like Cooper Rush kinda gave them a blueprint for success and they did it pretty much all year.

It’s a passing league at the end of the day. Always will be with these rules.

I think many believe that Schott will be running things, but in reality he will be our run game coordinator, where MM is the passing game coordinator.

MM is known to pass a lot on 1st downs from his GB days.
