Schotty is sinking fast. When to pull the plug

This Nepo Baby is sinking fast. He is 2-3. Chances are he will be 2-5 in 17 days.

Yoda needs to yank him soon and name him to quality control.

Coming at us
@Green Bay and @Philadelphia are coming at us in no time, lads. These are bold, tough teams with healthy starter QBs.
Could he, should Junior Schottenheimer survive 2-5? He is teetering at 2-3.

When to cut Junior Schottenheimer

Can him now, I say, or when he is on fire?
Yoda, how will Junior look to you in 17 days?
To be humane, now is the time.
Parker? Phhht. There are many who could outcoach this dolt passed off as a genius.

His replacement?
Great question.
I have no idea. And probably 90% here have no idea, either.
That, my friends, might be at the crux of why Junior is still our HC.

Uh the Packers might have a starting QB but are otherwise not a good team. The Eagles are collapsing before our very eyes.

Serious question: Why would any talented, respected HC or even rising star assistant want to come to Dallas and work for Jerry and Stephen? Who not only interfere but are also known to be cheap with their HCs?

Seriously why would Mike Tomlin or Sean McDonough want to be here?
Wow Bob, you’re getting more bitter every day.

Just my opinion,
I really think whomever Jerry hires next as head coach, his pay needs to be tied to wins. Base pay of the lowest paid head coach, and ability to be the highest paid if he wins it all. More pay for every win. If the head coach wants to make more, then win more. Of course I think the same thing is true for all players as well, and there should be some form of pay structure throughout the league that pays for performance. There is already a salary cap, so let's make it a solid cap that pays for production, not potential and previous performances and whomever can hire the best lawyer to negotiate.

If they lose the next two then come home and lose to the cardinals in Dallas. Someone will be fired.
And if he wins the next two, which is just as likely as losing as Green Bay and Philadelphia have problems of their own, is Schottenheimer then headed for the Hall of Fame?

He and Parker are not going to be fired under any circumstance prior to the end of the season. Probably not even then.

Pulling the plug means giving up. Jerry is not ready to quit the season, too early. I would however like to see Scotty get fired as soon as the season is technically lost. Would be something if the fill-in goes out winning. Then we have a coaching controversy, in which case expect Jerry to make the wrong move...again.

Unfortunately for us fans, if we want any hope of change, we need the bottom to completely fall out from under this team this season. Otherwise, it’s the same old song and dance of mediocrity. Just enough success for Jerry to convince himself we’re almost there and that Shotty can get it done, especially with time still left on his contract. And guess what? We’ll be right back here next season having the same damn conversation.

Shotty was setup to fail. He wasn't the OC here, he wasn't calling plays, he was an assistant they promoted to HC cause they like him. But they didn't give him a talented OC to lean on. They did give him a failed HC as DC who was then replaced by a 1st time DC who has never called plays and has a fairly inexperienced staff with no real veteran DC presence to lean on. If they are going to keep Shotty they need to hire 2 assistants, 1 on each side of the ball and maybe one for special teams if there is anyone out there.

This is the proper response. I don't post here much, but over the years I've mistakenly defended JJ, thinking anyone who could hire Jimmy J was smart enough to finally fix his mistakes, but not.

Here is the one question I have never heard anyone ask Jerry: "You have been very successful in the oil business. If you had a field manager/land man who had not hit a gusher in even FIVE years, wouldn't you fire him? Would you allow someone who hadn't had a hit field in THIRTY YEARS to be your GM?"

Here is the problem for Dallas. If they fire Shoddy now, who do they replace him with that will make the team better? There is no one. Shoddy has surrounded himself with neophytes, no one to challenge him for his job. The same is true with Christian Parker. There isn't even someone to mentor him. This is the disaster that Jerry has created in 2026. Kudos for going out and getting players, but yikes he built a Titanic with a Captain who is sailing into icebergs.

And, who is out there that you would want long term to coach Cowboys? I still think there are coaches who would love to come to Dallas and coach this team, despite Jerry and Stephen. Why? For one thing the Cowboys have the talent on the roster, even on defense. They have some young players who could be stars. They have a championship offense and a veteran QB. What they lack is a winning attitude and good coaching and I think some coaches firmly believe they could bring that to Dallas under the right conditions.

Also, Jerry is an old man, and some coaches might think they won't have to deal with him much longer.

The Cowboys will stay in striking distance of the NFC East lead all season. Nobody is getting fired until the Cowboys blow the home game against the Giants or road game at Washington. If it takes that long it will be in the offseason. The Joneses know they cannot bring back Schotty if the Cowboys don’t make the playoffs.

Green bay and Philly are neither bold nor tough

Both of them are just as average as Dallas….and Philly’s talent that got them to the superbowl is playing average at best

Green Bay is a dumpster fire with a coach thats the EXACT same as Schottenheimer

So both games can go either way….

We could end up 2-5, 3-4 or 4-3 because its average at best teams playing each other

As far as im concerned fire Schottenheimer now….Make Parker the interim and let someone else call the defense

Schotty is worst than Mike McCarthy. He might even be worst then Jason Garrett.
He’s not….Garrett is what happens when you let Schottenheimer stay from 07-19

Or in our case we let schottenheimer stay for another decade

The time to cut him was when they cut his boss MM, and I would have hired Robert Saleh who was available.
