a 12 billion franchise interviewing anyone but top candidates is laughable.

I do prefer shotty over KM. but either way HC in dallas will have to carry Witten on staff and when things go sour, Witten will take over prematurely and will get many many years to prove himself. (JG 2.0)

So, not only do we have to live with this clown puppet for four years, but we can expect to have another puppet in Witten after that???

yeah if I didn’t already tune out a lot last offseason, I would definitely be doing a lot more of that now.

The only reason Jerry would hire someone like Schottenheimer is because he has no real options and hiring a random guy to coach in 2025 would likely be possible with a 2-3 year contract and an easy person to fire after only one season if someone he wants becomes available and/or is willing to take the job in 2026.

If Jerry wants to waste another year of his remaining life closing his eyes and throwing a dart hoping to land anywhere near the dart board, then by all means.

I don't see how his options open up further next year. If he is truly limited it's his own doing, but you know that. Point is nothing will change until he's dead and gone.

I wonder if Jerry realizes he could make EVEN MORE money if Dallas was really successful and winning Super Bowls. And it'd take less work - hiring the best guys, sitting back and letting them do their jobs.

He could be sitting on his yacht, raking in even more dough than he does now.

Anyone listen to the Fan this morning?

Shariff says he was told Stephen is the one who likes Schotty. Also said Stephen wanted McCarthy fired after the Green Bay loss last year and presumably to promote BS, but Jerry wasn't paying a coach to sit on the beach (of course).
You can tie a lot of what's wrong with how this team operates directly to that man

Does this circus show feel more like the dave Campo or wade Phillips coach hire era ....?

Campo. The wheels have come off and we are about to run full circle. I've spent the better part of the last two decades being optimistic, at times even believing Jerry had learned from past mistakes. Now I've watched him piss away another young core and he's clinging on to an aging vet qb with a team who has no identity other than losers. His philosophy on free agency and paying his own has been a disaster. He's never made a final push to get over the top, but he thinks he can drag this team to the promise land. It's all very bizarre.

On X Cowboys' Schottenheimer Interview Sparks Fan Outrage

The Dallas Cowboys have officially interviewed Brian Schottenheimer with 2nd interview planned for their head coaching vacancy, a move that has not been well-received by the fanbase. According to NFL com and SI, this interview has led to widespread frustration and debate. Critics, as reported by BVM Sports and Pro Football Network, argue that this choice reflects a lack of ambition or direction from the Cowboys' management, with some fans expressing their disillusionment to the extent of contemplating withdrawing their support. The backlash underscores a broader sentiment that the team might not be serious about pursuing championship success, as echoed by fan reactions across various platforms.

exactly. i’ve never understood the need for this family to have their hands on football operations.

Maybe in 40 years when the grandsons take over they’ll hire people that know what they’re doing. question is will we even be here by then?

He had that with Jimmy but he blew it all up because his ego is even more important than money and especially more important than winning.

If this becomes reality Jerry just wants to give the job to Witten, but wants him to get a couple years experience so Brian is just a figure head until he loses the job or his contract runs out.

I love Witten as a player, but he's a high school coach and has a long way to get ready. Hire a coach you think will stay a while and just ask him to consider Witten for the TE staff and see where it goes.

We need to boycott everything, everyone in the metro area needs to lineup outside the cowboys facility and protest the hell out of it . Make it get national recognition!

Schotty + Witten as underwhelming as it sounds is better than Moore IMO
I agree. Kellen would be a disaster here, I think. Jerry, the press, the players would just steamroll him.

That said, depends on the coordinators. I don't like the idea of Schotty calling plays. This team needs new ideas more than anything.

The only way I could support Schotty as HC is if he’s purely a figure head and we hire 2 great coordinators (e.g., Saleh). The players like him from what I understand. Unfortunately I have to imagine Schotty will want to call plays

Same here. I don't have a lot of hope that will happen though. I'm assuming Jerry will also want assistants on cheap short deals, just like his hc, so I doubt he's gonna go get any big names for either OC or DC. Probably just promote the guys within
