Schultz to command top TE money

Bad blocking and disappears. C-ya, go try free agency...Plus, unless this team gets to a NFC Conference Finals, not a difference maker......Next

Releasing/trading Jarwin after this season saves Dallas $4.25M ($2M dead money) so hypothetically if Schultz is in the $8M-$10M/average season range based on current TE contracts, half his salary is accounted for by letting Jarwin go who is inconsequential on this team. Add to that the fact Dallas can save $5M by trading/releasing Anthony Brown ($1.5M dead money) and suddenly Dallas easily has enough to bring Schultz back (as well as another seeing as how Schultz's contract would be cap friendly in the beginning).
Is there anyone on this team that can play better than Brown. He got caught with some bad penalties in the raiders game. Some may have been bs calls. He covers pretty well. They stay away from Diggs side so Brown sees more action. What bothers me about Brown is he drops so many ints. I know he is not required to catch but man.. I watched the first quarter of last weeks game. He dropped 2 picks right in his hands. One a pick 6 easy. And the other the receiver fell and the pass was right there in his hands.I haven’t paid attention. Is there any cb on the team getting reps that could take his spot and play as well.

He can get it elsewhere. I love him, but we can't overpay everyone. The market makes 2nd contracts ridiculous for just about everyone.

While he is playing better this season in terms of opposing QB's completion % (54.1% in 2021 vs. 67.9% in 2020), he is giving up 13.4 ypc which is his career worse.....which tells me he is playing off WR's quite a bit to avoid getting beat over the top often, which when combined with his career worse YAC stat, tells he he is not playing as well as some may think and why Dallas needs an improved #2 CB to partner with Diggs.

Much of Dallas early success was coming out of the 12 personnel, two TE package of Jarwin and Schultz. In October, during their stretch run, they ran it 64% from this package and they deployed it 33% of the time, more than any other team in the NFL. They had the highest rushing yards out of this personnel and 3 times the league average out this personnel. You can see a lot of play-action roll outs to the right, where Shultz rolls out and Dak hits a basic pass for significant gain, most likely coming from this package.

The usage shot up because of Gallup being out.

Teams basically couldn’t stop it. And surprise, surprise… Teams have slowed the rushing attack for whatever the reason and Dak no longer is afforded this elite play (hard to argue it was sustainable anyways, it was so high) and is being forced to make decisions in the passing game and is exposed like normal and feet year, with deteriorating mechanics, rushed pocket presence and slow processing of the field.

Who do we have. Heard we drafted a cb Joseph and some here are high on him. But haven’t seen much of him.

Of course it remains to be seen but fodder to discuss.

“According to CBS Sports’ Joel Corry, expect Schultz to earn a new contract similar to that of the New England Patriots‘ Hunter Henry. Henry signed his deal during the 2021 offseason and earned himself a three-year, $37.5 million deal and $25 million guaranteed.

Corry projects Schultz to earn a deal with a $12.5 million average, $25 million in guarantees across three years. That sort of contract would place Schultz in the top five among highest-paid players at his position in terms of annual value.“

No way we should pay him a contract like that. Guy is a pretty good TE in a really good spot. He is nowhere near a $12M - $13M player. Take your 4th round comp pick and move on if that’s the price tag. That’s just insane. Get a better blocker to pair with Jarwin and use that money on a DB, DT or OG

Sounds like a "plant" story by his agent to get the embers burning .

There's nothing wrong w some of the 12 personnel. The problem is they can't win at the playoff level with it because the talent at te is below par for the scheme.

We've got 2 playoff wins in 25 years using the exclusive 11 and 12 personell groups. It's trash

Is success winning playoff games or empty stats in blowout games against scrub teams.

Well Dak got a big payday using that approach so why not Schultz.

Lol. True. But Dak has carried this team on and off in wins. Whereas our tes have never made a winning play in 15 years. Lmao.

Why this knucklehead coaching staff is stuck in the exclusive 11 and 12 personell groups for 15 years is beyond comprehension

Take the comp pick and draft a similar TE. He’s not worth that type of money.

If you draft a guy they will take years to develop.

That position just doesn’t step into the NFL and start contributing early. Even the top tier guys struggle for a few years.

All of those 12 personell stats are baloney btw.

Because We seldom use it on third down.

These tes thrive on what the defense gives them on 2nd down.

Then 3rd down comes and they fold like a cheap Suit.

1 TD by Schultz in 9 games is not a top 5 te

He'll prolly get 3 tds against the Giants today to pad the stats like always and all of y'all be comparing him to Gronk

lol lol lmao

These tes are only winners when we're playing losers.

we could have gotten Jared cook twice

And countless free agents

I'd snag a Te playing decent on grass. Convert him to the turf

Well, Witten is histories all time 4th leading receiver, an 11 time pro bowler, considered to be just behind Gonzalez as the greatest TE in history. that will never be Schultz. Doubt he will rival Jay Novacek.

Nothing about him says top five anything.

Schultz & Pollard our 2 best offensive players today….

Schultz is nothing special. He can’t even block. Get his *** out of here and let someone else over pay for him. Draft another te in the 4th round or 5th that can do curls and comebacks but then be slow as molasses for YAC just like Schultz

He had what may have been a career day for him. He was clearly our best, most dependable receiver today. He’s developed into a very solid TE. I totally disagree with your post.

Let him go. We need to bring in a Witten type TE, who has the power & balls to block someone his size. I'm so sick of watching him following behind, while his man blasts one of his teammates. What a wuss!
