Scott van Pelt...

The Dallas Cowboys will ALWAYS be America's Team. Why do they keep talking about this?

Maybe tomorrow's poll will be, is the Vikings D still deserving of the nick name the Purple People Eaters. Or are the Steelers still the Steel Curtain. Or whether Jaws should still be called the Polish Rifle.

Its a nick name for Pete's sake, not a title.

I will not give it too them, out of all of the steelers fans i know, which is a lot, honestly there are only 3 of whom who are actually true fans who know football and have followed them forever. Everyone else just see they are winning and know some friends who like them so they sport the stupid jerseys and put stuff like "Steelers Football" or "Steelers Baby!" on their ******* page. I have a deep hatred for them all.

Edit: m*space is a bad word?

Not sure where you live but here in So-Cal I know a lot of transplanted Steeler fans from Pittsburgh. They are among the most knowledgeable fan bases in my experience. Not only about their team which they have realistic expectations for but the league and game itself.

I feel the Cowboys' pain. People have been trying to strip me of my "World's sexiest bachelor" title for years.

Everybody hates the Patriots outside of bandwagoners and Boston.
Dallas inspires passion in equal measure, New England just inspires disdain, they used up all goodwill in 2001.

The Steelers aren't even heralded as the defending champions in most broadcasts because they don't garner the respect of a defending champion because most people realize the flukish nature of last year in which the Cardinals gave them all they could handle.

Hey Van Melt, that's the best you can come up with to fill time on your show?

How about doing a poll about who is the tallest, dorkiest idiot at ESPN.

yah,baby,yah!

Van Pelt sure is Sir Dorksalot.

The Steelers as America's team? That's ridiculous. The Steelers aren't even Pennsylvania's team.

Scott Van Pelt should not have a radio show.

Thought it was a well known and doocumented fact that "Van Peezy" is a Commanders fan.

Just saying.

they Steelers won their title fair and square, if people refuse to recognize them as defending champs then that's their mistke. I don't know how you can call it a fluke.

I actually like Van Pelt, even though I barely watch ESPN anymore.

Here's the thing:

Nobody does TV ratings on a consistent basis like the Cowboys do and nobody has sold out games at opposing stadiums like the Cowboys do.

I don't buy NE. You have to, IMO, have "staying" power to be considered America's Team. No body cared before Brady, and nobody will care after he is washed up. They are more of a regional draw. I would have to consider the Steelers, as much as I hate them, more of a challenger. When the Steelers play a road game, and maybe it is only MNF games, their fans somehow get tickets and invade the stadium. Gotta give it to 'em!

Good Point.

maryland grad like myself. grew up in the dc area. wouldn't be surprised if he is a skins fan

Soup de jour "Americas Teams" come and go, but funny how they all go up against the Cowboys huh? I remember a Braves SI cover back in the early 90's proclaiming them Americas Team and that's MLB:laugh2:

Here is the thing about NE that nobody can deny.

They cheated.

They cheated, they cheated, they cheated.

And they got caught.

Then after getting caught, they lied and lied and lied.

They claimed:

- They never videotaped signals.
- They only did it for a few games.
- They only did it for defensive signals.
- It never gave them an advantage.
- Matt Walsh is a complete liar
- Belichick didn't even know Walsh.

In the end, they were found to have BLATANTLY LIED, tried to ruin a former employee's reputation because he was telling the truth, and they cheated and put a nice, big dent in the integrity of the game.

Sorry, you're not even a BLINKING THOUGHT of being 'America's Team' when you pull that garbage.

The Cowboys are far from perfect and we can say what we want about Jerry or even the Giants, Eagles and Commanders for that matter. But none of these teams have ever done anything as disgraceful and as hurtful to the league and the game as Bob Kraft, Scott Pioli, Ernie Adams, and Bill Belichick did. They all knew about it, they all knew it was wrong, and they did whatever they could to cover it up.

Someday, karma will really come around for these frauds.

Just imagine if The Dallas Cowboys were caught.

It would be on every channel, 24 hours a day for at least two years.
