That wasn't solely because of Sean Lee. He played the majority of last season and we were one of the worst defenses in the league. Like I said, i'm not gonna solely blame that on Sean Lee just like when we were 14th i'm not gonna blame that solely on him either. You can't have it one way and not the other. You can't give him sole credit for the defense being 14th(which isn't good btw) but then when they are ranked the worst in the league ignore that.

Hence the vital piece label

Lee was a player with potential but an injury history and he slid because of it. Dallas loves to draft that sort of player as the FO loves to speak about how they got 1st round value in the 2nd. They love to look smarter than everyone else more than they love letting the draft come to them.

Every time I see Sean Lee without pads, I just can't get past the fact that he looks like a 15 year old kid with 60 lbs of artificial muscle weight packed on. I think his body just can't take the muscle weight he put on and the pounding from playing football. Unless this turns out to be a simple sprain and he's good to go in a few weeks, I think he may be done for good. How can you trust him? Even if he's healthy come week six or week one next year, who here won't hold their breath every time he makes a tackle expecting him not to get up? You can't have a MLBer like that!

They actually went after Lee giving up the fourth to get him.

I love Lee -- when on the field he may be my favorite Cowboy..... having said that I am starting to wonder that this might all be for the best... It will give the club to build a strategy around Sean Lee unavailable NOW as opposed in the middle of the season.

My goodness is that painful to write... :(

When Lee started 15 games in 2011 they had the 14th ranked Defense. In the 3 years he missed significant time they were 23rd, 19th and 32nd. He is definitely a vital piece to the Defense.

I think Lee is an important player but your use of stats here don't really prove it because there lots of other factors that went into those rankings.

If that makes you rationalize the frustration better, go for it.

If it is a true and honest impression, I doubt you watch football very much and if you do, you do not understand what you are watching.
No way that I could express it any better.

I'm with you there, but we passed on him in favor of Hitchens. What that reason is exactly, I'm not sure. But we handpicked him for this situation specifically, so I hope the powers that be have a plan.

He was being sarcastic....basically saying those that wanted T Smith (a small OLB or big SS) maybe should rethink that Hitchen's pick.
Of course, I think we could have had them both if we wanted (Hitchen much later), but that's old news.
It'd be nice if that 4th rounder panned out for us though.
