I hear you...but really...TWill might be the Cowboys #2WR but is option #4 in our passing game. Good blocking WR also.

We just need a bigger threat for Dak. If Dak is sitting back there and sees a weapon just running, I would rather see that than some dude on a blown coverage like TWill.

Don't care if its a WR or a TE, create separation so your QB can see you. Football is heart, we need more guys that play like every game is their last.

Experienced Vets i.e. Revis, ALL-DAY (prolly not considering McFadden) and Conner Barwin before/after the Draft and on the cheeeZEeeap .. might be had by someone ... why not us!

TWill definitely has his supporters and cutting him was never going to be a popular decision but there are only so many rosters spots and TWill has not lived up to his 2WR position. I believe a new face will be coming on board at that position and uproot his security of making the 53 man roster.

yeah ...that....and we don't have any LBs!

I'd keep an eye on Verner. He had a lot of potential a while back when he played with Lovie. Was one of the better CB's in the league for a bit. Could be a cheap target after draft.

Why do people hate the 5th WR so much?

Dez sucks up a huge part of the cap and constantly underperforms, but somehow the 5th WR is a problem...

Since when is Whitehead even a WR? Doesn't take a wide receiver to run the jet sweep and he does little to nothing else. Even his return duties have decreased. The only thing the guy isn't good for is making bad decisions off the field. He should have been gone already.

Putting aside the Terrence Williams distraction, because it's too silly to take seriously, I'm going to go with Jamaal Charles to replace Almo in the lineup if we don't spend a pick at RB. Tramaine Brock probably is off our list at CB...maybe Jason McCourty? Maybe a versatile LB to replace Justin Durant. Not sure if there's anybody out there still who fits that bill anymore, though.

QB would be the other place I'd look to see us add somebody, but the cupboard is pretty bare there, too. Who's left? Cutler? Kaepernick? Both are non-starters here (by that I mean we wouldn't seriously consider either).

I was thinking about McCourty too, but I can't help but think he'll go to play with his brother in New England and the rich get richer.

If you want to get rid of Whitehead then you have to find a punt returner. Do you take Adoree Jackson at 28 or maybe in a trade down into the second?

That doesn't sound too hard. Whitehead was losing touches for Beasley to fair catch the ball. That's no endorsement.

Yeah we won't be releasing anyone after the draft.
God I wish we could get rid of Whitehead.

TWill is at a great price, hard to get rid of him. I do hope we get another real #2 option in the passing game. A real #2 WR earns his way into being the #2 option, and TWill can't even get past #4.

I wouldn't get rid of TWill, just drop him down the depth chart with someone better with real deep speed. Keep Butler also. Get rid of the Whitehead.

Thing is, this team isn't built for two outside receivers to be heavily involved. Truthfully, it wasn't even like that much with Romo. We regularly saw slot receivers being more productive than outside receiver(I seem to recall Patrick Crayton sticking around when we tried to replace him numerous times).

Zeke needs the ball in his hand through the air.
Bease/Wittens are great options on third downs and play a pivotal part in the ball control offense we play.
Dez will be heavily involved.

After that, especially considering how little we throw the ball, there are little catches to go around. Alvin Harper was more of a deep threat but his production was strikingly similar.

Whitehead has to improve as a receiver. He's only a third year receiver so this is possible.

He will have a tough time making this roster if he doesn't make a substantial leap, I am sure the coaching staff hasn't forgotten that they basically suspended him a game for being tardy---in one of the biggest games of the year.

Because we are allergic to veterans.

We have had plenty of opportunities to pick up veteran pieces since free agency died down several weeks ago. Byron Bell was a start, but not getting some additional support on defense has made this a defense only draft.

I just thew up a lil in muh mouth

And, I have stated previously that TWill is close to my least favorite player...his only saving grace is that he presumably took a little less money to stay in Dallas, but what they are paying him for 35 to 40 catches (and several IDIOTIC game decisions) is too much....they are NOT going to get rid of him, so that is nonsense, but get me Njoku with our first pick and actually USE him and Dak will be a happy dude....(sorry, got a little off the reservation there)

I think the Cowboys will be quiet in the second phase of free agency, but will be raiding people's practice squads and signing freshly cut players in the 6th phase of free agency.

Those 3 receptions for the season don't give cause for optimism.

I'm honestly surprised that he's still here now. He followed up last year's gaffe with getting in trouble with the league for that casino arm wrestling thing just recently.

His best bet may be converting to a RB to take Dunbar's role of the team doesn't land a similar player in the draft.

It's probably not as far fetched as it seems of the team doesn't land a similar player in the draft. They liked what Dunbar brought to the team as a 3rd down back and they seem to like Whitehead similarly as they try to get him the ball in space.

For me, it's something I truly hate. What did the fixation with the "Dunbar role" ever earn this team? Save for an oft-injured player and a guy who somehow took Elliott off the field? It's as frustrating as the three wasted 2nd round picks use daily on TE's than never paid off.

And keeping Dunbar cost this team Darius Jackson as well and a potential backup running back role solved. Nothing good ever came from the "Dunbar role" and I hope this team realizes that.

I don't disagree with you at all.

The team did have a fixation with Dunbar. Whitehead could probably fill that same role so I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't try to put him in the backfield more when/if we bring in a couple young receivers to camp.

If you're just going to use Whitehead as a jet sweep player, might as well try him out as a change of pace/all purpose back to see if he would fit better.
