Seems like it'll be Ceedee, Micah, then Dak to get signed?

Couldn't we see it from another perspective? Let's say you pair a rookie QB with such a good / great WR, he could learn and profit alot. Plus it could raise his confidence in trying harder throws and so on...

Yes it would decrease CDs production, but if it's a team game then that's whats needed to raise and educate the new franchise QB.
If you pair a rookie QB with CeeDee his production is bound to drop significantly as the rookie goes through their growing pains. Unless we luck into a CJ Stroud. They may never develop into a solid QB and CeeDee would become frustrated and unhappy with his declining numbers and his QB which could lead to a real problem. CeeDee has developed into a great NFL receiver with Dak. CeeDee will struggle to live up to his contract with a lesser QB which will be 30+M per and everyone including the fans won’t be happy. It’s just another dilemma the Cowboys will have to deal with if they allow Dak to walk.

In this order. I feel like Justin Jefferson and Chase are holding this team hostage. As soon as they sign Ceedee will sign quickly. I'm not sure exactly about Micah this year, but why not get it done?? The other contract we've beat to death so we'll see if that happens! Please give your thoughts on this order of signings
As much as it will pain some, CD is not in Jefferson or Chase league and should not be paid accordingly.
Micah will be over paid and Dak is gone after this upcoming season.

Would be suprised to see CD signed before dak shocked actually. If dak goes they will trade CD.
I doubt it. They would probably want the new QB to have a target like Lamb. I think Parsons is the most likely trade piece.

You don't like our players?
I like most of the players, but have grown to despise the organization....I no longer care if they go 17-0 or 0-17....only come here to see if maybe the team has been sold.

Well I also expect all three to be signed this year, but spoken hypothetically: You can be transparent about your plans when signing CD. So if he's on board (I doubt he'd care if the money is good) then he knows what's coming.

But like I said, thats not the most realistic scenario anyway, so let's what the deals will be.

All three won’t be extended this year. It’s going to be very difficult to impossible extending all three if they’re all looking to reset the market. CeeDee will be the first to re-sign. We’ll just have to see what the plan is with Dak. It won’t be until next year for Parsons.

It should be Diggs last year. CD this year. Parsons next year. Not ideal, but that at least staggers the contracts. But why do I get the feeling Jerry isn't paying anyone going into this season?

If I were doing it:

I would offer Dak Prescott a fair (money wise) contract for 3-4 years with an open ended trade option for the team. By that I mean he could be traded at any time to any team. Then if he played with confidence and consistency especially in the big games he stays. If not then I trade him. If he refused that offer I let him play out his current contract and try and sign him then if I still want him as my starter.

CeeDee Lamb is the tough one. He is really good...all pro type guy even. But if you have cap money you can get a good WR. The draft usually has a few. If he and his agent are reasonable in what they are asking for I would probably extend him. If not, he would be looking at a franchise tag and more extension talks.

I would tell Micah Parsons to go have a great season and we will talk at year end. It is a year too early to be talking extension. A great season would be him being in the DPOY mix. Also he needs to work on being a team guy and not so mouthy in the media.

Now with Jones and Son doing it:

I expect all three to sign soon. I expect all three to get great deals for them and their agents. I expect the Cowboys to be strapped for cap space for years to come.
I agree with your opinions on Ceedee and Micah but your opinion on Dak taking fair money is a non starter.

It's possibly his last big opportunity for a massive contract and he won't take a penny less.....his agent wouldn't be doing right by him if he didn't

CD is currently scheduled to make just under $18M on his 5th year, why would you want to increase that to $30M?

Jone's have stated the priority order multiple times. Dak, CD, then Micah. They could change their mind at any point, but it makes sense to let both of them play on their 5th year.

Even if we tagged them, the average of the highest 5, will still be less than resetting the market. CD and Micah, both are going to want to reset the market and be the highest paid.
You're talking actual dollars as opposed to cap management. Extending him now drops his cap hit for this year, then gradually rises as the cap goes up. Allowing him to play at an 18M cap hit this year, and a 23M cap hit next year on the tag makes no sense from a cap management POV.

Making players play on their tag year is usually what you do when you plan to let them walk. It's bad for 2 reasons. First, the player is on a higher cap hit than need be playing on his 5th year. Secondly, you have 1 less year to spread out that new contract.

That why we see teams giving out extensions after 3 years for some first round picks. It gives you 6 years to spread out a 4 year extension.

They kind of know the market for Qb's set by Goff now, I feel like they're just waiting on jefferson and them

So, you think that if I were running things then he would have to play out his current contract and I would have to take my chances if I wanted him after the 2024 season?

Well, let me add this thought. NFL quarterbacks are always subject to injury. Serious injuries. Dak Prescott himself can attest to that. Could Dak and his agent pass on a FAIR offer with a boat load of guarantee money and pray he stays healthy? Perhaps they can. But I like my odds of signing him in the end. If not, so be it. Being a good GM means you have to be willing to gamble when put in these type situations.

Not only will Dakota get top money, he'll probably get another no trade clause and no franchise tag clause....it all depends on if Jerry caves again or what team is desperate for a veteran qb.

Only time will prove it either way

Micah wont sign this year, he'll sign next. Elite players that were first round picks rarely sign year 3. Devonta Smith was an outlier

How much is “a boatload of guarantee money”?

Jones and Son do have a history of bad contracts, don't they? My posts in this thread have the intention of giving a different approach. I think a GM should try always to do what is the very best for the team overall. Overpaying a few "star" players to keep tickled is not ever in the best interest of the franchise. It is a business and like any business sometimes the boss has to be firm in dealing with the employees.

Well, at $45 million per year (likely more) for 3 or 4 yr contract with the going rate of about 60% guaranteed. You do the arithmetic and you can get a rough range. To me it works out to a boatload for sure.

Agree 100%..... there's no future in letting the lunatics run the asylum.....the NBA did that and the players have as much powers as the GM without understanding the big picture

The minimum, the bare minimum, amount of guaranteed money Todd France will consider for Dak is $180 million. That’s just a bit more than Goff and Hurts. By March of next year, as the top free agent quarterback available, since the team signing him won’t have to give up player and/or draft capital, the guaranteed money amount will be every bit of $200 million. That will be the cost of waiting. That’s still well behind Watson’s guaranteed amount. What is “FAIR” is what the 32 NFL ownership groups collectively decide is fair.
