As the op said, is he hanging out with this dude? Because that's the main problem and by video evidence he is.

Is it a crime for Dez to hang out with this guy? More importantly, is Dez hanging around this guy while he is breaking laws? Has Dez broken any law? Violated league rules? Been arrested? Smoked pot on camera? Been pulled over for drunk driving? How does anyone know that this guy is an old friend that Dez is trying to "show the light" to? Maybe Dez is the only positive influence this guy has.

My point is that nobody knows. So to sit here and make assumptions and then run away with them is ridiculous, as has been the case in so many Dez threads on this site.

Even more ridiculous is the statement made about the bandaid under Dez's eye somehow being related to an altercation with one of Lil' Wayne's group. How do you know that he isn't wearing the bandaid as a fashion statement? In case you don't know, wearing a bandaid under the eye has been a fashion statement for sometime now, made popular by rap artist Nelly.

Man, band-aid under the eye went out with Nelly. Dez background says that if he is to be successful his challenges are going to be off the field, I know he wasn't doing anything illegal but it just doesn't look good.

Here's a fresh cup of perspective.

You aren't crazy bro, Dez has always had 'homeboy' issues.

It's not that big of a deal to me, because if the other 63 starting WRs in the NFL were followed around as closley as Dez Bryant you'd find that he's par for the course.

He has to do a better job of understanding the visibility of Dallas, but right now he's 21, progressing, and really came along at the end of the year. All the off the field stuff has no bearing until he's walking out of a court room in a fur coat or if it visibly affects the Cowboys chances of winning.

He's more than a 3 route off the field headache. He's set for a breakout season, he's a guy that's physially superior to his competition and once he figures it out he's gonna be great.

But while we obsess and prod into this 21 year old mans life. BTW what were you all doing at 21? Now imagine the pressures associated with a millionaire lifestyle in Dallas being the next great Cowboy WR. It's not as easy as go home and study your playbook all night.

But I want to leave you Puritans with 2 things before I jam.

1) He's going to figure it out, he's already done great for a 2nd year player at working hard in a short offseason. He still needs to polish route techniques, mid-play route adjustments (seeing the corner cheat on a blitz and signal to your Qb to run a go instead of a hitch, nuances like that), zone recognition, and understanding when to live to fight another day or battle 3 men for 2 yards. Physially he's fine when he's healthy, plus he saw a healthy dose of bracket coverage last year with safety help over the top in a lot of traditional Tampa 2 sets so he really did great considering he saw #1 receiver attention in a lot of games. Plus, remember he's working with a garbage OL that doesn't ever give him Qb time to comfortably hit his back foot on a 7 step drop, let alone have time to let Dez get deep down the field where he can be a vertical threat. Patrick Peterson was right, he had 3 routes, then in the last 4 games Garrett unleashed him running Austin's almost full route tree combination and he really was torching guys. The game I was at in Dallas he was literally open almost every play but Romo was running for his life most of that game.

2) Everyone does it. Yes, out of 64 starting WRs in the NFL - more than half of them smoked weed, or hung out wiith sketchy characters at some point during thier career. Santonio Holmes, basically dealt weed, got busted and failed multiple tests. Hines Dancin' Behind Bars Ward has got caught getting high and driving drunk. Randy Moss circa 98-07. Brandon Marshall routinely assaults his significant other every offseason. Dante Stallworth drunkenly ran over a man, and walked btw. Jerome Simpson got popped getting pounds of reefer smuggled to his house from his teammates southern cal hookup. Sam Hurd was selling more drugs than Scarface. Rae Carruth killed his pregnant wife. So ya see, Dez smoking a doobie in the offseason is the least of my worries, neither is paying his bills, or where he wears his pants, that's dumb **** for dumb people to obsess about, all I care about is what he does for 3 hours on 20 days out the year.

Dez has zero arrests, no failed drug tests, and really cares about this teams performance on Sunday. It shows in how he plays on every single snap, I wish the other 52 guys played with half this guys emotion and maybe we'd go somewhere. As long as we win it'll be okay and you'll be forgiven, ask Irvin, but if we lose, you'll always be the reason.

Because face it, this team has about 20 other things more important to worry about than what Dez Bryant's lackey puts on youtube, like c, g, de, cb, nickel cb, ilb, olb, dt, ss, fs, backup qb, 3rd wr, te, gm, oc, etc etc.

So we go from Romo sucks, to a bandage being a reason to kick Dez off of the team. Wow, this is amazing.

Some of you all are: dying for attention, are struggling for material, love to worry about a bunch of nothing, or have an IQ below 70.

I really don't want to guess which one.

That's funny, just last night I looked on DC's site for something and saw those posts about Dez and his friend.

Ben Rogers of Ben and Skin is always saying that he, and some with the Cowboys, are afraid every day that they're going to wake up to the news that Dez is in real trouble. I'm guessing that this is the type of thing they're talking about.

So it's not the best thing for a young, impressionable kind like Dez. But like Apollo said, the truth is that this kind of thing has gone on forever -- not with all or even most players, but a lot of them -- and we're only now able to track it all down due to twitter and facebook and the like. Even DC, who keeps up with everything on the web more than anyone, had to dig to find this.

So until the Cowboys do get that bad phone call, I guess we just have to hope for the best.

Yeah, good post from you and Apollo, until something happens all is good.

I know the Cowboys can't babysit guys but I thought they had some kind of mentor program for kids like Dez. Doesn't Calvin Hill head up that program? Further, there is so much alarm over Dez for no real reason. As has been enumerated by others, he has broken no laws. He has gotten into no trouble outside of having his pants hang to low  and he has been improving tremendously as a WR.

I know I would like him to not associate with people who would take advantage of him and his situation but I know that this isn't a perfect world. Look at everything that went on with the Cowboys from the 90's. The drugs, the trouble with cops, the "White House" and other issues. Had we known the depths of what they were into and this board was active we would have posters calling for the removal of Michael Irvin, Emmitt Smith, Erik Williams, Charles Haley, Leon Lett and others.

And if the Cowboys did what these so called fans would have wanted we would have zero Super Bowls.

michael irvin smoked his way to the the hall of fame. maybe dez should start hanging out with some heads so he can maximize his potential.

good points. i usually dont agree with you, but this is spot on.

:laugh2: at posters who don't see the obvious with Bryant.

That most of the NFL avoided such a physical freak speaks volumes. That his name rarely leaves the sports headlines speaks volumes.

Unfortunately this. All world from the neck down, all knuckle from the neck up.

The Playmaker had his share of issues, however in my mind there are a few major differences:

- This is a different day and age as far as social media is concerned and transgressions are amplified to the nth degree
- I don't think the two are comparable from the neck up, or in their drive to be the best. This isn't an excuse, but because of this, fans, players and coaches alike at the time and after tended to look the other way because Michael liked to work hard and play hard.
- Irvin was the heart of the Cowboys and drove those around him to be better, Dez isn't there...yet

I think the OP is pointing something out that no one in their right mind can read and say "I like what I see here".

At best you can say speculation about the altercation but as I have said, that is the least of the issues.

Unless I'm speculating he hangs out with that dude and speculating that the videos exist.

Nope, hangs with that turd.

Nope, videos exist.

Nice try. Lil' Wayne's twitter handle has not ever been weezy_87.

It's been @liltunechi for as long as I can remember.

Great work.
