Senior Bowl: Cowboys Observations

Moffitt in the 2nd is a little high.

If you want a Center/Guard prospect in Round 2 than I think Wiesienewski from Penn State is your guy.

Check this out.

I would draft him, cut BIGG and move Gurode to RG. You can tell he is a hell of a lot smarter than Gurode. I move him to cent because of Gurode. :muttley:

Yea, lol. Well im a PSU guy myself, and rest assured, they moved Wiz to center because they had a lack of talent there and they knew he was smart, talented, and capable enough to handle the switch.. even though his natural position is Guard, and that's the spot he has played at throughout his career. He did a solid job at center and again.. earned all conference honors there. They moved him back to guard the following season because they had a capable center and he is most comfortable playing his natural position at guard. He's a very bright guy though, knows all the OL positions and their movements and assignments like the back of his hand, and honestly could play any one of them effectively.

I'm glad I have some of my fellow PSU grads, alums and fans here to handle this silliness. The flu is kicking my butt and I dont have the energy to dis-bunk such nonsense.

Just realized this thread was here.

thank you so much Sdogo. Really Really appreciate it.

as someone who spends saturdays with his kids every week I didnt see any college football outside of some late stanford games! So I am way behind and know nothing about this draft!

So I am really relying on these types of threads!!!!

Anytime, glad they serve of some use besides my personal enjoyment.

I like Burney a lot....tough little player and a demon on ST. He won't probably be a great starting corner, but as a nickel he would look very good.

Interesting stuff about the QBs. Wonder if Garrett wants to a get his guy for the future. Slim pickings, though, seems like

I think it makes sense to find out about the QBs even if you aren't really planning on drafting one. Maybe you'll pick one up as a FA in a couple years when Kitna retires or something. Maybe they'll have to play against one of them this season and it makes sense to have an idea about what any of them are good/bad at.

Quote from the linked article:

The football often flutters back to Daryll Clark in the shotgun, dipping as it approaches the quarterback and forcing him to lunge at it.

That's not the way it's supposed to happen.

"The snap needs to be brought back a lot faster and up higher," Clark said.....
Wisniewski also admitted, "Snapping the ball is actually a lot harder than I thought it would be, snapping it and trying to block real quick."

In the article, Paterno second guesses his decision to move Wisniewski to Center, and questions the kid's leadership. Wisniewski is a guard who can also play center, like Moffitt. But his best position is OG.

Do you work for the DMN?

You dont know Joe Paterno at all....

Ask the all time leading rusher in Penn St history Evan Royster about Joe's MO.

Never claimed to know Paterno, was just paraphrasing him. Rebut the article, not the messenger.

No need to rebut the article if you know how Joe Pa operates. Its clear what he thinks of Wisniewski, and he knows how important his leadership has been to the team the past couple years.

That's great and all and if you look up Evan Royster you may have doubts he would of ever seen the field this season.

Lavar Arrington one of the greatest LB's in Penn St history was consistently scrutinized almost daily by Joe.

Ask him now that the player no longer plays for him and you will get a totally different story. That's Joe Paterno, what you did was get "sucked"

It's coach speak, it's motivation. Every coach has his own way of getting a message across. Joe's is by telling you everything that is wrong and nothing that is right.

Watch an interview with him at halftime or at the end of the game. They could be up by 40, playing a perfect game and I guarantee you the only words out of his mouth will be things he thinks needs improved on, not what has gone right.

Okay, I get that Paterno has been crotchety since birth, but how do you explain the flutter ball shotgun snaps. Everyone already has a cow with Gurode's errant ones now, and Gurode is a multiple pro bowler.

Your worrying about the wrong thing at the wrong time. In about 3 weeks all your questions will be answered. Your concerns are the same one's the scouts have only difference is, they have a chance to put them to rest at the combine. He will have ample opportunity to show the critics wrong or justify their concerns.

I'm telling you IMO, it will be a non issue very soon.

So he'll have his shotgun snaps fixed by the combine? For his sake, I hope you are right. I'd like nothing better than for him to be perceived as a first round pick.

1. I hope is agent is smart enough to figure out what teams will be looking for.

2. I hope Stephen is smart enough to work on aspects of his game that he surely knows are of concern.

3. I'm not going to pull the "who I know" card here but I can promise you he has been working on all aspects of his game.

4. It was never really that bad.

If I draft Wiz I'm more worried about how he snaps next year vs. this year cuz I'm not starting him year one unless someone wants to trade for Gurode.

Glad to hear to hear about the interest in RB, too.

Over the past few seasons, Garrett used MBIII more than many fans wanted.

If Garrett wants to keep a physical RB in the mix, here's hoping Garrett will find a better one.

Even if he is terrible at it NOW it's not like he most likely couldn't get the hang of it by the time we're ready to move Gurode.

Just get the guy and let the rest play itself out.

Kinda like Marcus Pouncey. He wasn't that great @ center this year but give him a few years at the position and he may be as good as his brother at it.

I doubt Mike Pouncey couldve been as good @ guard as his brother right off the bat either.

IT just takes a little time and if you're smart and have the physical attributes all it takes is a little patience.
